If all the essential life skills recommended in this
thread are to be covered in the classroom our kids won't
need to learn math, science and writing any more.
IMO, working at McDonald's or just about any fast food job would be a valuable life experience. It teaches then how to do real work with others in a high stress environment and not lean on their degrees. There are many people in the corporate world (many in management positions) that don't know anything or have any experience even with multiple degrees. Their knowledge is theoretical not practical. These are people that know how to study, take tests, write emails and not much else. They've never gotten their hands dirty in the real world.
Not trying to pick a fight, just a little humor.
I was just fucking around; I hope you don't take any offense. I suppose you're not in the joking mood.

So true. They can’t run anymore from their core and it keeps nagging at them and telling them something is off. Maybe they eventually realize to open up listen and explore to see what it’s trying to tell them. Before they could distract themselves from it but now they don’t have much choice to escape from themselves lol
I agree. In one episode of the old TV show Chuck*, the good guys were after a bad guy. And at the end of the episode, when the bad guy was caught, the last thing he said before being carted off was something like - you can run from the cops, and the law, but you can't run from yourself. I'm tired of running.
*For the poor people who never watched Chuck, it is Get Smart for modern times. I main character is Chuck Bartowski, a fellow who through no fault of his own, became a secret agent, he does not know what to do, but somehow always wins. There are too many parallels to Get Smart to be a coincidence. I am convinced that the creators used Get Smart as a guide for Chuck. On the plus side, there is no laugh track in this show. I recommend watching it. When it aired on TV, watching it became a family affair. I'm sure the disk set is available from Amazon (like EVERYTHING else). I recommend watching the shows in the correct order, because there are periodically 'call backs.'
Self awareness. Part of the reason so many are mentally struggling with Covid is because they have had to sit with themselves, and what they met made them VERY uncomfortable. Know thyself.
Yes, and a lack of $ which is often used as a distraction, which prevents people from looking at themselves.
This brings up another point, will this change people in a lasting way when life goes back to normal?

I think it is actually pretty difficult to go back to the way things were before facing your demons (not to sound cliche). I think it depends on how long this goes on for and what they replace their old habits/behaviours with.
I know a gentleman who, at about 40ish, just came out, as an example. That kind of change that will be irreversible.

Thing is, they don't tell you it's fake. You must ask yourself (or others) some hard questions about the news stories being reported. Often, parts of the story are true. This makes the fake parts easier to hide.
