I was heavy into my music studies junior high and HS (hell, if band, english, social studies--including economics/government, were the only courses, I'd be a damn Rhodes scholar). The bands with horn sections that influenced me were Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Tower of Power, Earth, Wind and Fire and Sly and the Family Stone. When this song came out, I loved the way Terry Kath used the "waw waw" guitar pedal and the fantastic horn arrangements (the content of the song notwithstanding)

Terry Kath was an exceptional guitarist and the soul behind Chicago. His premature death was an utter tragedy.

Speaking of Sly and the Family Stone...

it would've made a great song in a Quentin Tarantino movie, i.e., Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill.

Other than forgetting to remember the words of elder statesman Ben Franklin, "only two sure things in life: death and taxes," great tune from Lauryn Hill...

Lauryn Hill is a generational talent, perhaps the best natural singer since Diana Ross. If she ever gets lucid and releases new material...

Great Kenny Loggins song...definitely get the Michael McDonald influence with the song's rhythm.

Speaking of Michael McDonald, here's a live version of Marvin Gaye's What's Going On featuring the "fifth Beatle" the late Billy Preston
