So if China sent $1 billion to fund US universities because many Chinese study there, how does that mean it selects the faculty and course content?
First, those are almost certainly all science grad students. Second, a $1B is a drop in the bucket for overall US post sec educational funding.
Except.... China's rise is based on a massive population and a massive economy. While the arrival of the alt right has polarized Western society, that's largely the choice of the Far Right to take a combative stance on almost all culture war issues. Almost all current GOP rhetoric is grievance and culture war based. "Pronouns" are not a major factor in running a nation. But they're a major talking point for GOP / Tory politicians. Whether a civil servant uses pronouns or not means shit. What matters is economic, trade and defence policy. And rightist parties put forward no policy planks on those issues. They just complain about culture war issues.
In fact, the West isn't split on major defence and trade policy issues. The GOP / Tories barely register on those points. They just stick to pronouns and "the war against whites". The West is pretty much united on topics like support for Ukraine, despite Russian-aligned media sources like Fox News to divert support to Russia.
Most righties are so obsessed with abortion and pronouns and white grievance, that the pro politicians in Ottawa and DC pretty much run the country as they want anyway.
You're already slightly racist by acknowledging the fact that anyone can be racist. That kind of talk is not allowed in mainstream discourse.
