The Jays are, after 35 games played, 2.5 games away from a wildcard spot.
Not too shabby considering the budget they have

When you look at it that way, they do look good to this point.

They are missing a bat in the line up to protect Wells like Carlos did up to this point in his career. Wells doesn't look as wonderful as he once did to this point in the season.

They need to send Lilly to triple A for conditioning. It is very apparent he has not fully recoverd from his off season injury.

I hear Houston is looking to unload Rocket Roger for some prospects, think he would come back here for round 2 while making $20 million U.S.?

what about Bush he is not doing any better and as for the Rocket i don't think he will be too happy to comeback to T.O. but it sure would be nice to have him here again not just because of how good he is but the Jays are also in need of a veteran pitcher to talk to the other pitchers in the staff

I don't think Houston would trade Clemens. The whole reason he decided to go there and play was because it was the best situation for him.

ted Lilly hit the showers early tonight (again) 1 2/3 innings pitch and they have scored 5 runs against him

I don't understand why he hangs so many "slurves". Lilly has potential to be the type of starter the Jays need. He reminds me of Jimmy Key a little, but with more velocity on his fastball.

He needs to go to AAA and get it right. In particular his pitch location when he gets ahead in the count.

latest poll in the Blue Jays website

I was just looking over at the Jays' page and found this question amusing:

Who is Toronto's most fearsome hitter?

Shea Hillenbrand
Eric Hinske
Corey Koskie
Alex Rios
Vernon Wells

IMHO Hillenbrand is having a good season so far but he is bound to cool off, Hinske is far from being a fearsome hitter, Koskie is looking good now but he still has to put together a good series for me to consider him fearsome, Rios and his 2 homers are not intimidating enough and Wells........see Hinske

a bone to pick

okay now i have a beef with Gibbons

WTF was he thinking leaving Towers there for so long 3 innings and 7 runs scored

i seem to remember that he has lifted Lilly in the past after only 1 1/3 innings because he was pitching as bad as Towers was pitching tonight

WTF was he thinking ?????????????

You dont want to pull pitchers too early cause it'll ruin their confidence

on the TV broadcast, Darrin Fletcher was saying that they left him in there so that the bullpen could get some rest. Almost sounded like the skip was conceding last night's game after the awful start.

Fletcher was hinting that Towers was asked to take one for the team and keep going so that the bullpen would be fully rested for the next day's game (which is an afternoon game today)

I think it was more a matter of saving some wear and tear on a bullpen that's been a little overworked lately. Towers' job was to suck up some innings for the team and hopefully settle down until the bats could come alive. Unfortunately, no such luck. I guess you can't play every game like it's game 7 of the WS.
