West Wing debate

Maybe this belongs in the political section...if so, mods please feel free to put it there.I basically want to discuss the live debate from the other nite.I was absolutely amazed. Two men...articulately, thoughtfully, and with strong and valid points for both sides, discussing issues facing the united states today. Now first and foremost..yes it was scripted..but anyone who doesn't think the "REAL" debates weren't..well..i have some beach front property for you in idaho
As my wife stated when we were watching it....if you had placed both debates side by side....and told none of the viewers which debate was real and which was not....they quite seriously would have thought the "real" debate was a second rate SNL skit.I watched all three "real" debates and none of them had the depth, idealism, intelligence.candor, or factual info that this one did. it really hi-lited how much the american political system has failed it's constituents.cheers

Damn cable . . .

. . . went out so I missed about half hour of the debate but what I saw was excellent!

I thought Alan Alda was a little more comfortable than Jimmy Smits but both carried their parts well!

I had read that it might be scripted with some improv. If that was the case, it was interesting the see the two in "character" since both actors are, I believe, liberals, while Alda's West Wing character is more conservative.

On the subject of presidential TV, Commander-in-Chief was panned by the critics but appears to be drawing much higher numbers than WW.

I didn't see the point of a scripted debate with actors who you can't vote for...?

It was good and realistic until they grabbed the mics and started walking around like Jerry Springer... Dubya wishes he was as articulate as either of the actor's pretending to run for president.

It would have been funny if there was more on the war and Alan Alda went on and on about his time as a surgeon with a MASH unit in Korea. :D

...then spent another hour discussing "who won". I honestly couldn't decide. If I were voting though, I'd have to go with Jimmy Smits character...

Damn, missed it!

I love this show but seem to miss it every time. I just checked, the next episode is Dec. 4th???
Why can't they be more consistant, do I have to hunt down each one when they decide to air it?
Assholes!!

Its a great show, apparently there were two versions of the "debate" episode that were released. One for the east coast, and one for the west coast. Anybody know what the differences were in the two versions?
