I get around.
Maybe OT but I think they only want licensed establishments growing MM - that's the aim. Otherwise, everybody will say I grow for medicinal purposes.
I don't see a problem with people growing their own for medicinal purposes. that's what has been allowed.

http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/...on_allowing_patients_to_grow_medical_pot.html

In this week’s court hearing, a government lawyer said there is no constitutional right to cheap medicine, and he argued there was no scientific evidence to show specific strains of marijuana are better suited to particular illnesses or patients.
To me, the government's argument states there is no reason at all to limit users to Health Canada approved cannabis. It's not better than any other strain, so they are justified in growing their own for the lower cost and convenience.

And the argument that it's unsafe to grow indoor plants and that this must be criminalized is fucking crazy. Only a conservative could agree with that sort of government intrusion into people's homes. Home fires usually start in the kitchen, are they going to make stove top cooking illegal next.

Also in that article:
Judge Michael Manson granted an application from a group of medical marijuana patients, who asked for a temporary injunction to preserve the status quo until a constitutional challenge of the new system can be heard.
I think this might be a loophole that hobbyists can exploit!
As soon as the Harper legislation against johns comes down, application can be made for a temporary injunction to preserve the status quo until a constitutional challenge of the new laws can be heard.

The government has no interest in making criminals out of johns,

Some say they do

just like formerly they had no interest in making criminals out of prostitutes.

But they did

The only thing they have an interest in is in making sure Canada doesn't become sex city North America.

Montréal has always has always attracted Americans for sex. Normal. It's legal here, illegal there.

No one has a problem with prostitution until children are trafficked from China,

Children trafficked from China in Canada for prostitution? Really? Tell us about it.

Robert Pickton is trying to create animal farm,

huh?

or a person opens a prostitution business where you live, especially where your wife or children live.

There's a sex worker operating in her house close to mine. Explain why I should be concerned for my kids?

Get real people, you want to fight a law that has to be written, for the greater good. Consenting adult have to do be treated as children because their activities affect other people and where's the fairness in that.

How do they affect other people? I have yet to understand that.

Consenting adults also include your wife, the people being trafficked and the people you see walking around the hallway when you visit an in-call location. We all know, a law has to be written for the benefit of the community, as well as the benefit of the sex industry.

Consenting adults include trafficked people? Really?
Contrary to you, I don't think prostitution affect communities in any significant way.

Nobody has any issue with laws criminalizing trafficking, .
Be careful of the word "trafficking" so Canada doesn't do the same sham trick as in the U.S.

The U.S. Federal Trafficking law applies to CONSENTING adults - all sexworkers, car drivers, appt takers that assist in prostitution. If it is coerced, than it is "severe trafficking" with longer prison terms.

That government lawyer missed the CNN special WEED which extolled the benefits of a marijuana strain that is high in CBD (not THC) which minimizes or prevents seizures. This pisses me off when I read the ignorance.

(Point taken on that injunction stuff. Send an email to Alan Young or T.S. Nicky on behalf of SPOC.)

I know that this is beside the point but prostitution still exists in Sweden

http://stockholm.backpage.com/FemaleEscorts/

does anyone have the stats regarding clients being arrested/charged for participating in mutual consensual sex between two (or more) adults in Sweden?

Is Toronto Police going to create a task force to get the evil bad men who pay for sex?
They will have to hire a lot more cops to handle you all. How will they budget for that with all the real crime going on in Canada.
It's almost laughable.
THANK YOU FOR THAT ! .. I was wondering how this damn "Nordic model" was working in Sweden.

Obviously their law will stop those that have too much to loose to get caught but it won't stop everyone.
From this article it seems it is even less successful…

http://feministire.wordpress.com/20...w-more-not-less-prostitution-and-trafficking/

No matter what law you issue it will never stop the crime form happening it can only try to deter and reduce the amount of it. This shows it doesn't always work.

There is a difference, you don't get a criminal record for J walking. lol

Waaa! Waaa! What a bunch of whiny internet chickenhawks.
If the legislation is based on Nordic laws, guess what? You guys will have to stop hiding behind the skirts of the SPs and Bedford and Maggies, because it will be YOU who are breaking the law. Yes, it will be the clients who are arrested, and who will have to launch the appeals.

And since you obviously have plenty of spare time as evidenced by the non-stop posts in this forum, how about using that time to do more than complain?

Brothers!!! We need to use our numbers, and get other hobbyists onboard so that instead of a bunch of individuals writing to their MPs and filling out gov't surveys we have some collective strength! We can't just really on prostitutes, WE have to mobilize too. We have to let TPTB know that there are a lot of us, and we are not doing anything wrong! We can't sit back and hope that Terri-Jean Bedford, Amy Lebovitch and Valerie Scott stick up for our right to BLS services!!
I've even come up with a collective name for our lobby group, and an introductory charter.

We are:
Your neighbours, friends, family members Businessmen, professionals, labourers Doctors, lawyers, teachers, taxi drivers. Mall employees, bartenders, salesmen, tradesmen.
We are not doing anything wrong. We don’t traffic women. We stay away from underage girls, from obvious drug users and alcohol abusers. We see women who consent to the activities, and we pay them what they ask for the pleasure of their company.
We are men who enjoy sex without emotional commitment. Without heartbreak and without future expectations. We are men who like to indulge in safe sex with willing partners and no strings attached, and are willing to pay for this privilege. And
We Are Not Criminals.

If enough of you guys agree we could start setting up this lobbying group with an email list and a website, and we could all become known as… WANCers.

Hmm, maybe first we can come up with a better name and acronym.
:)

First I would like to applaud you and then I would like to thank you. Your a brave and courageous man for trying to rally your fellow hobbiests and fight this. I think this new law is crazy and frankly doesn't change anything. Hobbiests have always had the fear of getting a ticket or arrested, and its not right. I also agree that for the most part, you guys are respectful gentlemen and are not criminals. I also agree that we are all consenting adults that are here because we want to be. I don't believe I could be in this industry for as long as I have, if I felt that the women were being exploited, harmed or didn't want to be an escort. I know that all the ladies that work at GOE are here because they choose to be. No man is taking their money or controlling their lives and if they wanted to leave the business, I would be the first one to help them. I am pretty sure its the same for most of the agency owners that advertise on Terb.

I believe its very important for clients who share the same views to form a group like you suggested to lobby the Government and bring more awareness. Please let me know how I as an agency owner can possibly help. I know one of the things I can do right now is offer you a gift. How about $100 off your next incall appointment with any lady at GOE. Its my way of saying thank you for your efforts and taking the initiative to get something started. I can also offer a $50 gift for anyone else who joins or supports your lobby group. I know to some its not much, but I am hoping you can use it as a little incentive or bonus for people who join your group and take up this fight.

Thanks

Based on conversations I've had with my friends who are also in the business, our first priority is very quickly becoming the safety and security of our patrons. C-36 is incredibly unconstitutional, and I worry primarily about the 'grey areas', as a BDSM, non-sexual provider.
