Time will tell if the Walcott selection was a waste. I like the idea of 4-5-1 with a thought to giving lots of freedom to Lampard, Cole and Gerrard to go forward. I am not sure if he was ever seriously considered, but if they are going to play a lone striker, I would have preferred Marlon Harewood to Crouch.the_big_E said:

Sven is depending on Rooney (broken foot), Owen (Recovering foot), Couch (No foot) and Walcott(no Premier League foot)? How does he make the decision to pick these 4 strikers? Bent put 18 in this year. His playing well, why not give him a shot?
I have the feeling Sven feels like he has nothing to lose since this will be his last team. I've heard some good things about Walcott, but since he's never played a Premier match, so he could also be a bust.

Becks: while I agree with your thoughts on the striker selection,
we really have to count on namely yourself, Lampard, Gerrard and Cole
to prove the leadership in the absence of Wayne or else we go nowhere.

yeah, I think so too. The job's lost, so this is no gamble. If the kid puts in a good performance, Sven looks like a mastermind, if he does nothing, no skin off his nose.

He didn't actually say that Palermo were gay, he just referenced the pink jerseys in a manner that suggested the team has gone Brokeback Mountain. There's nothing wrong with a pink jersey - John Charles donned one.
Sharman did say that the reason Clarence Seedorf was left off the Dutch National team is that he's a moron?!?! I wonder how he arrived at that conclusion. From some of the decisions Marco Van Basten and Jurgen Klinsmann have made it appears that they are cancelling each other out.

However his butchering of names and his hatred of Germans worked against him. During Spain 82 he was doing his broadcasts with a rather large shiner.
