Yeah, i totally get not getting involved physically. But I don't understand recording instead of phoning the cops. To me, if you're standing there recording, you're doing that so you can post it on your social media and get likes and go viral and get interviewed by CP24. You're not doing it to help anyone and I find that problematic. Call the cops, let them deal with these assholes
Filming a crime in progress and submitting the video to the police or a news outlet is a good idea. Posting the video on one's own instagram page is not. The perpetrators would be able to identify the witness and ensure that the witness would be unable or unlikely to testify against them.

Nothing wrong with recording the car jacking. I heard some say they they should've intervened. Not a freakin' chance. Assholes like that have no regard for human life and are often armed.

A word of advice, hide an Apple AirTag in your vehicle. I have one in each of my cars, on my keys, on my bicycle, in my luggage and one in my wallet.

Unless they are exceptionally well hidden inside panels that wont work because thieves scan for them.
They apparently can disable GPS trackers as well, so thats useless too.

IMO the best defense is parking your car in a well locked garage, or use a steering wheel club.
Wheel locks also work well

I envision a day when hundreds of people stand around filming some act of violence, all doing their civic duty and not one of them phones 911 or does anything to really help.

WTF have we turned into here?

There's a very good chance that this recording helped the police in some way. Why is this living rent free in your head? lol

But the guy in the video was on the phone with the police already…
