Decent show, but it’s not comparable with GoT IMO, except that they are period pieces.

One’s fantasy, the other is historical fiction.

I’d like it if Vikings stayed away from the supernatural, but maybe that’s just my take on season 2.

Will have to check it out.

I really hope Floki gets killed off as soon as possible.

The problem with a show such as this is that everything before Alfred The Great is not historically documented. Most of it is mixed with legend. Ivar The Boneless is described as having osteogenesis imperfecta, he was a warrior of exceptional ferocity and cruelty. He was Britain's version of Attila the Hun, knocking out several Saxon Kingdoms before turning on Northumbria. Before his invasion of Britain, Ivar already had parts of Sweden and Denmark under his control. He is brilliantly played by the young Danish actor Alex Hogh Andersen in the series (pictured in #17, left).

I like the show, but they stretch some things to much Sid. Flocky found the Island of the Gods, since then they show the same thing...him marveling...the beautiful background. Its enough... let this scene move on ...

Margarethe is also beautiful in this last episode when she was talking to the Queen in the low light she was adorable...beautiful eyes. I also wonder if Lagartha will have the baby of the King she fucked while he was tied up.

After Travis Fimmel as Ragnar Lothbrok, they needed someone to carry the franchise. Andersen is just 23, he has a bright future ahead of him.

^^ That was a crazy scene...good actor , don't like the funny gay talk when he talks to his brothers LOL

That chick got away, when she told him that the gods favored him by making him cripple...

I had to change the clip Galseigin, it gave too much away. Unless the demand is high I don't see the series going beyond its chronology (793 - 878), everything after Alfred is history.

As for the metaphysical aspect, it's part of the show. The show would become numbing if it was only about war and slaughter. Viking lore became significant in shaping Nordic culture, it was passed down through generations to Wagner's Ring Cycle operas and most recently in Marvel's Thor.

As for Floki, he's not going anywhere. He's becoming the Paulie Walnuts Gaultieri of Vikings and may end up like him.

I would probably watch some of the shows if they had authentic looking Viking clothes and armour, instead of leftovers from low budget fantasy shows that look like Sci Fi crap.

Is Ragnar dead yet? And do the snakes get him?

The real star of this show to me is Michael Hirst, the show's creator and lead writer.
The show is still going very strong even after Ragnar is killed off and that's because Hirst is so skilled at creating narratives that keep you hooked into the drama going on.
The guy is a genius who doesn't get nearly enough credit for the work he puts into this show.

The series was renewed for a sixth season of 20 episodes even before the first episode of season 5 aired. Season 5 is also going to be 20 episodes .
Seasons 1, 2, and 3 totaled just 29 episodes. Fans of the show need their Viking fix I guess.

+1 couldn't agree more, Michael Hirst is fantastic. Despite the many liberties the show has taken in terms of the history and how it differs from the sagas, he's created such an engaging narrative that you don't really care. This season has been great so far, especially the Jonathan Rhys Meyers character

Michael Hirst knows a thing or two about creating period dramas. He wrote The Tudors and well as both the Elizabeth films starring Cate Blanchett.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers should have been in full roar after his outstanding portrayal of Henry VIII, he should have been a bigger star than Natalie Dormer and Henry Cavill combined. His alcohol problems stalled his career. Hirst is showing loyalty by bringing him into Vikings - provided he stays sober. I hope he does, his talent is too big to waste.

There is one big difference between Vikings and Game of Thrones, no actor on Vikings is as bad as Emilia Clarke. GoT grinds to standstill whenever she has to carry a scene, they're hoping that by pairing her with Dinklage people will not notice.

I was going to post "A Moment of Schlep" where Hogh (Ivar) bites Ludwig's (Bjorn) exposed ass, but I figured folks would prefer more footage on the show's latest Shieldmaiden.
