There are 30 teams and only 6 Canadian teams hence the stats are not in our favor.
20% of the teams are Canadian. Shouldn't that mean the law of averages say we should win 20% of the time? Yet, we won ZERO in 18 years. Suspicious, eh?

And Canada has had 4 of the last 14 representatives in the Finals. 28% > 20%. Extremely suspicious.

Of course, 100% losers. Anyway, enough about conspiracy theories. Maybe, a Canadian team will win when Bettman retires in 2038.
Yes because those Canadian teams certainly boost American ratings in the Finals.... if your conspiracy made any sense there would be a lack of Canadian teams making the finals as well.

I don't know why I do this because I probably stated the same facts last year, and yet you ignore them.

In the 17 years since the Stanley Cup was won by Montreal how many great teams has Canada had? How many 1 seeds have they had?

Ottawa was cleraly the best contender over the period but they were done in by the Leafs for the most part.

Calgary's best team over the period was 3rd in the conference twice. They have never been a serious contender entering the playoffs.

Edmonton's best finish the past seventeen years was sixth place in conference!!! When they get to the playoff they are a decided underdog.

Montreal has only been a top four seed once the last dozen years - the 2008 team which was best in the regular season in a very balances East. And before that they had down years after the cup. For the most part, this team is almost at the bottom of the team that gets in the playoffs/

Toronto's best regular season finish was third in the conference. Their biggest accomplishment has been blasting Ottawa in the playoffs. Since the strike they have been awful.

Vancouver finally reached first in conference this year. They have been good since 2004, but like Ottawa this is a mentally weak outfit. From 1994-2003, for the most part they were a bad team.

Is it really that surpising that this by

They are just doing this for ticket sales dumbass. They know season tickets will do well, and the hockey fans keep buying into it.

Unfortunately, those are just paper numbers. It's been 17 seasons since the last Canadian cup winner. However, consider:

San Jose
Islanders
Buffalo
Phoenix
Los Angeles
Washinghton
Philadelphia
Atlanta
Florida
Nashville
Minnesota
St-Louis

The above consist of 40% of the teams(granted some teams, such as Florida and Nashville, did not exist 20 years ago) yet none of them won the cup in the past 27 seasons. Does that mean that the fix is on for those teams? Also, if you do not count the last 2 seasons, then you would have to add Chicago and Boston to the list.

I'm asking what has Bettman done? Has he rigged the draft? Has he unjustly ordered the nhl disciplinary committee to suspend star players from Canadian teams during the playoffs? What has he done besides favoring teams to play in the States? Favoring other places to have teams does not equate to fixing games.

Yeah, Bruins fans are First Class.

Bullshit.

Cheering when Johnny Boychuk broke one of Mason Raymond's vertebrae in Game 6.
They cheered ? You mean during the game ? How would they know he was injured in such a fashion ?

fireworks, fistfights, 2 burned cars and a few burned cans for now. I'm glad that they lost. Imagine had they won!

Geez, I forgot about 94...

The fans are just reflecting what hockey has become. Nothing more than a mindless blood sport.

But, of course, it's Canadas sport.:amen:

Maybe it's for the best Canadian teams don't make the finals if it brings out the worst in the cities like last night.

Question for the sports fans here.
Did either Dallas or Miami have any rioting problems after the final the other night?

I didn't see anything in the news, but I wasn't really looking for it either.

How about this ... In the last 17 years how many Canadian teams have been one of the very worse ??? Toronto and Edmonton ( and T.O traded the pic ) .. Canadian franchises are often good to medicore and that may get you a magical run ( Calgary and Edmonton ) but thats about it ... Ottawa was crap and that paid off with a Stanley Cup Final .. Look at Montreal , Calgary and Toronto, when was the last time a draft pic went on to greatness ... Often Canadian teams put bandaids on things instead of breaking it down and building it up ..
Good point Guy,

Torono is Obvious.

Montreal had a chance to rebuild a bi, and then blew all their money on Gomez, Gionaa, Camelleri core.

Ottawa built their team through draft and other shrewd moves, but hung on to them way too long.

There is 1 car burning and not 1 emt vehicle on scene for the past hour? Dont u think it is a media set up? come on. I was in the 94 riot (not causing it i was held captive)and that was a real riot...not one car burning and 100 news people covering it. This is all about CBC MAKING news not reporting it
Apparently some were wearing masks, this would have happened even with a win - they came prepared.
Professional hooligans, tossed in with a handful of drunk Vancouver fans.

Still a stupid thing to do.

Huge riots in Vancouver~!

I suspect they will not recover from this.

Likely go the way of the dominant Ottawa Senators. They will make the playoffs next year, barely make them the following year.... and miss them altogether three years from now...

Vigneault will be long gone..the defense will have to re-group.... at least 12 of these players will be gone..including the SEDINS!!!!

Sportsnet reported last night that since the Leafs last played a playoff game, the City of Boston has a championship in all four major sports!

Vanvouver fans showed as much class as their team did. That was a series where both teams got what they deserved!

Didn't Vancouver boo Team Canada back in the great 72 series, that prompted one of the great moments of leadership from Phil Esposito.
