Perhaps he has a future in the CFL, Damand and Fuji would watch him.

In the NFL not this season, perhaps not ever, he is a player who was fairly ordinary and who was very controversial -- what team wants a player such as that!

Perhaps if had been an NBA player he could have gotten away with it, but not in the NFL, which has a different fan base.

Pretty simple to me, ratings dropped for the first time ever because middle aged white guys (aka trump base) just want to watch football
You watch too many Hollywood movies.

I still think Kaep will be back in the league this season. If I am the Raiders I am thinking, "why not?"...

Lots of good points being made in this thread.

As smallcock pointed out, he chose to sacrifice his career for a political stance, and in the end, only he will know if it was worth it.

In every business/career, you have a choice. You can play office politics and reap the benefits, or you can stand for what you believe in even if you know it will piss of your boss's and people that sign your check, putting your career at risk. Weather it's right or wrong, that's the way the world works. If I were in his shoes, as much as I wanted to take a stance, no fucking chance would I risk everything I worked my whole life for take a knee during an anthem. Some of these owners and NFL upper brass probably relatives that died for the country fighting in wars. You can take your political stance, just be aware of the consequences. There other ways he could have supported his political views, without it effecting his career, but he decided that was the road he wanted to walk down. I'll give him credit for having the balls to do it, but he chose that road and now has to live with the consequences.

KAP deserves to be on a NFL team!
Plain, Pure, and Simple!

Even if you don't think he is a Top 30 QB starting at his position,
he is DEFINITELY without a doubt better then 3/4 of the 2nd string QB's on a NFL team!!!!

The Keebler Factory
Yup. But he also has a trainload of baggage that comes with him. And NFL teams don't want the distraction.

It is not right to compare Kaepernick and Donald Sterling. Sterling was a blatant racist while Kaepernick took a stand (or knee if you will) against racism. Kaepernick exercised his rights as an American to peacefully protest all of the things that Sterling represents.
Sterling was punished for comments made in private. Even though they were objectionable comments, I find it just as bad to punish someone for that reason as it is to punish Kapernick. A person should have the right to protest peacefully, but they should also have the right to say what they want in private.

In private specifically only to his girlfriend and not a general ban on any ethnic group to Clippers' games. It's like you telling your daughter not to bring guys in baggy pants to Leaf games.

So are we saying NFL teams with many black players would not want a QB/leader who speaks out on racism in America?

All he did was express feelings that many people have and unfortunately the whites don't like to be reminded of the racism that blacks face daily.

Vick found a spot after his dog fighting scandal and let's face it based on the number of pet food chains it is safe to say Americans like their pets.

Pretty sure some wife abuser is playing somewhere in the league.

How many drug users get a second chance?

If these type of people get second chances surely Colin should too. He played very well in the early part of career and the 49ers were on the rise.

I love football but I don't watch it for the crooked moral compass that it has.

The players you mentioned above still had more on field value that Kapernick. Every defensive coordinator in league figure out how defend him, and he never adjusted. He basically sucks now, so it's more a heavy dose of nobody wants him for that reason, as well as small dose of "plus we have to deal with the baggage he's gonna bring".

No, it's not, Ridey. Making racist comments and disliking pants are equivalent only in your sick universe.

The football commentators I listened through while waiting for baseball talk were universally agreed that he should be on a team somewhere and his politics are the only thing keeping him out of football. I'll go with the experts on this one.

Look it, the guy was "at work" when he decided to actively promote his social activist agenda, insulting myriad stakeholders in the process. This type of hyper-distraction is antithetic to the goals of the organization. The bright side here is that hopefully he will have more free time to pursue his social objectives full time, without the "distraction" of making a million bucks per game.

Are you saying his talents are so low that he can't find either a starting QB or back up QB spot in the league?

I maintain that a guy who spoke out on the state of affairs of blacks in the US, is no more (if not less) of a distraction than criminals, alledged criminals, substance abusers who have been given a second chance.

What was this so called defense that nullifies Colin but does not affect the other QBs in the league?

His stat line for 2016 wasn't stellar but.....

59% completetions 16/4 TD/Int 2200 Pass yards 468 rush yards and averages over 6 yards per play that he either passes or runs.....

Is not that bad. Especially when you consider that those stats also depends on a good O line, a good RB and a set of WRs.

why does anyone have to justify NOT hiring the guy. They aren't firing him, they just aint hiring him. No crime. No foul If they don't want him on their team, they don't have to hire him? He took the risk. It backfired on him; end of story. NFL teams can decide in the future if they can use him.
If players want to reach out and cross over lines, then its their prerogative. But accept the consequences.
Its not just cause he's average. Lebron James wants to play general manager. Well he can if they let him, but then he has to suffer the consequences when it turns out hes not a great leader to do so. Kyrie Irving leaving is Lebron's fault. He was the the GM. He made the decisions. Accept the consequences. He has no chance of title this year now. He's got one foot in LA. Why does Kyrie have to help him out for one year, and then get stranded the next?

They also fired the Google guy. That's the risk one takes when espousing a personal view, right or wrong. "He or she who has the gold, makes the rules."
