The Hammer
I am only at half-time here. Watching the repeat on Setanta with their frigin 90 minutes of pre-game coverage.

Brunt decided to note that ManU won on the Fan on the way home right in the middle of baseball/steroids discussion so that ruined it for me!

Entertaining 1st half though...

:D

on a side note; Grant deserves to keep his job.
Ronaldo is a huge worry for the Euro!!!!!!
Did you see him roaming around the midfield???????
A big, big worry!!!!!!

Very few teams will admit to this but if he catches fire, there are very few national teams
that can contain him!!!

Now that I've sobered up here's my analysis of the match.

Slow start and both teams were nervous. Great set up between Scholes, Brown, to Ronaldo. Lampard's goal was luck. Chech is one of the best keepers in the world. Both teams had chances, Man U in the first half, Chelsea in the second. Drogba is an idiot. I do feel bad for Terry, but not for Anilka.

And ...............MAN U!!!!

Great win for the Glorious Manchester United!

Today was a great day for sports. Chelsea played really well in the second half and the first half of OT. Man U's defence was pathetic, especially down the middle (I called it the "spread eagle defence-opening wide and inviting the attacks to come straight down the middle). Man U sure got lucky. But both teams had equal number of close chances, so the game was actually more even than the shots indicated.

I hoped it would be Lampard instead of Terry that missed. But admittedly, Lampard played well today. I knew Anelka would miss. He belongs in Bolton. I take back everything I said about Van der Sar, he saved our asses today. From the way Cristiano "the flopper" Ronaldo stutter stepped and paused, I knew he was going to choke. I still maintain that Ryan Giggs is ever valuable to Man U.

Great game today. Abramovich must've been pissed to see his favourite Shevchenko not play in front of the Russian fans. I predicte there will be coaching changes this summer. With a team as stacked as Chelsea (their bench is better than 99% of the teams), they should win something big each year. But the day belongs to MANCHESTER UNITED, the Champions of Europe.

A truly eventful game, not the most flowing or technical game but very physical and enjoyable from a neutral's perspective. Obviously could have gone either way but to be fair I think ManU are deserved champs. I was absolutely elated that those three indiviuals missed their PKs. CRon, arrogant prima donna, Terry the biggest CU*T in the EPL and Anelka the greediest most selfish player in Europe.

Chelsea got exactly what they deserved. Against Arsenal, Chelsea, Terry in particular, always kicks the ball out of bounds when returning the ball to Arsenal after a kick-out for an injury to a Chelsea player. So I guess when Kalou kicks the ball out of bounds he thinks its normal. However, a few minutes later when Tevez does the same thing back to them, they go nuts on him, unbelieveable. Anyways, the net result, Drogba gets thrown out, Terry has to take Drogba's PK and misses. KARMA is a bitch...and I'm loving it.

P.S. I saw Terry spit at Tevez during the game and couldn't understand why the ref didn't do anything. Hopefully there is a review and Terry gets disciplined.

I agree with you 100%, initially I felt sorry for Terry, then I saw the spitting video and read some other rumors, now I feel good he missed his PK.

There is a God after all

and so the English fuck up the pk's again. ;)

Kidding. If anything, Cech came close to saving Nani's, and then I'd have had to listen to how the Portuguese cost Man U the C.L.

At any rate, a good contest, though not a great game. Ronaldo was, not surprisingly, the best player on the pitch again...if you discount Van der Saar's last minute heroics. Did any of you catch the mind fuck he put on Anelka? Pointing to the top corner of the goal as if to say, "I know you fucker, that's where you're going", and then unhesitatingly diving the other way to stop the ball and win the CL?? Legendary stuff.

But to get back to Ronaldo, if VDS had not stopped Anelka, today we'd all be reading about how Ronaldo does not show up in big games. So funny. Personally, I prefer that he be treated badly by the media, as it makes him try harder. But the double standards are amusing. For instance...if a foreign player had shown Terry's shockingly bad sportsmanship and then fucked up the pk...what would be said about him today? Would anyone be saying they feel sorry for the fuckup? Never.

Rooney got some harsh criticism. I thought he worked hard and didn't get much service. Tevez should have wrapped that game up early on at least two occasions. Last night must have convinced Ferguson that Rooney needs a tall strike mate up front.

spino1123's team also only has 10 men. LOL!

BTW, Ferdinand wasn't even the best CB on his own team (Vidic) and made some brutal gaffes... he's getting by on reputation alone these days.

Congrats to Man U - well played and well-deserved!

very nice comments on Grant by Mourinho... i do feel he lacks class...you don't kick a man when his is down. I'll dislike Inter i even more if he signs
quoted from Goal.com
Mourinho: Grant Is A Loser
Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has labelled his recently sacked successor Avram Grant a ‘loser’ following the club’s first trophyless season in four years…

Mourinho: Grant Is A Loser

*

The Special One parted company with the Blues back in September after irreconcilable differences between he and club owner Roman Abramovich culminated in a rocky start to the season.

Grant took over on a caretaker basis but was handed the job permanently in December, much to the surprise of many observers who were predicting a big-name replacement.

But following Chelsea’s failure to collect a trophy, despite pushing Manchester United right to the wire both in the Premier League and the Champions League, Grant has received his marching orders – to the surprise of few, it must be said.

And Mourinho has stuck the boot in, claiming the Israeli was destined to fail due to lack of a winning mentality.

“In my philosophy it was a very bad one because in football ‘almost’ means defeat,” he said.

“Chelsea almost won the Carling Cup, almost won the Champions League, and almost won the Premier League. Almost is nothing.
“After two titles per season for the last three years there were zero titles this season.

“In my philosophy that means a really bad season.

“Maybe in the philosophy of a loser this was a great season, which I respect.”

Mourinho: I Sign For Inter On Monday

Jose Mourinho has told Michael Essien that he will sign for Inter on Monday according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

Mourinho: I Sign For Inter On Monday

*

The former Chelsea coach has been linked with the club ever since current boss, Roberto Mancini, walked out on the club only to make a dramatic U-turn on his decision.

Mancini still hasn't confirmed his position with the Nerazzurri and he may leave in the summer. Meanwhile the Special One is currently free and waiting to pounce and, according to reports, he has claimed that he will sign for Inter on Monday.

Gazzetta claim Mourinho sent Chelsea midifielder Michael Essien a text message after the Moscow Champions League final telling him the news of his new adventure with the Nerazzurri.

The text reads: "Michael, you have all been great players regardless of the loss to Manchester United. On Monday I will sign for Inter and I hope that one day you too will come to Inter."

It seems as if Mourinho will take half of the Chelsea squad with him if he signs, as Inter are also interested in Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Mancini has been linked with moves to Chelsea and Manchester City and if he does leave San Siro then the door would be wide open for Mourinho to walk in.

Inter are desperate to win the Champions League and Moratti would prefer someone who has experience of victory in the competition in the past to take the reins at San Siro.
