Watched about 5 minutes of an episose with Kuthcher. Holy fuck was it bad. I'll be amazed if this series last more than a few months. They were saying the premiere drew a big audience, so what... It was a novelty at that point. This show is done, who the hell finds it funny anymore?

Refuse to watch the new one. I like Sheen... think he was funny on the show. And I admire him for his honesty. I like the fact he goes public that he pays for sex and is not ashamed of it. Healthy attitude. I know he has his probs, but I admire the traits I mentioned.

And he is very funny.

Anyone have early metrics for the audience on the second episode (or the second half of the first episode)? I can't imagine they'd be very high - I haven't actually talked to anyone who wanted to watch the second episode, after having put up with the first.

I get the feeling we'll see the return of Charlie Sheen. Only an idiot would think that goof Ashton could replace Charlie.

Yeh, I tried hard to get through the second episode as I really want to like the program. But it stinks. Maybe if they get a different type of cad, like Hugh Grant?

He didn't pay them for sex, he paid them to leave :)

Wow ... how wide peoples tastes are !

I thought Rose was a fat plain Jane when compared with Charlie's other hotties on the show.
As a bisexual woman, I actually thought Rose was one of the more attractive women on the show. Some of the women looked too fake and 'worked on' IMO. I think Rose has a nice, natural pretty face and a great curvy body. I guess beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder!

And people thought I am weird for digging Kristen Schaal and Kate Micucci

I suppose you are right, in that the eye of the beholder is the only part that isn't actually ugly.

Rose is a hottie for the exact reasons you laid out.

Rose is a typical girl next door and pretty - just not as hot as 90% of the other girlfriends for me. Candy (2'nd wife for Cryer's chacter), his receptionist ... actually I was attracted to all Charlie's girlfriends with the exception of Rose.

I finally watched the second episode - OMG how it sucked. I have copies of all eight seasons but it ends now. Even Berta (the housekeeper) has lost her edge with Charlie's replacement. I really didn't expect it to suck quite this bad.

Crappy writing and Kutcher sucks. The whole show stinks. Its been going downhill for a few years but the quality really dropped since Charlie left. I'll probably watch a few more to see how they develop the character, and to see if it gets any better. But so far, its really bad.

The show was getting pretty lame, after the kid grew up and Charlie got a live-in girlfriend. It had become a pretty standard family sitcom.

Two And A Half Men hit by huge ratings slump

I gave it three episodes and quit - most of my friends didn't give it that.

The idiot journalist take: "Apparently the recent publicity Kutcher has garnered for allegedly cheating on wife Demi Moore with partygirl Sara Leal has not encouraged the viewing public."

Charlie was whoring, drinking, coke, & rehab & the ratings weren't affected. It hasn't dawned on this idiot that maybe the show sucks.

Never mind that 17 million viewers is still more than the show got in the first 8 seasons.
Many extra eyeballs were attracted to the show for the first 2-part episode due to both the Charlie Sheen effect, curioisity about how Kutcher would do, and to see how they dealt with getting rid of the Charlie Harper character. The slump is to be expected.

The interesting question is if enough of those extra eyeballs like or even prefer the remake to make up for the loss of fans who don't like the change.
Also considering that Kutcher is making much less than sheen, the show could take a big hit in ratings and still go on.
Plus consider that many people will continue to watch a show that has gone down hill either out of habit or because it is still good enough. Much like the Simpsons.

This is questionable
"Industry experts predicted viewing figures would stabilise following the much-hyped premier"
I'd guess the experts expect things to stabilize, about 5 or 6 episodes in. If they expect it to stabilize at the first shows numbers, they are not experts.

Sure, 17M viewers is higher than the show had been seeing, but the trendline is not impressive: from 28.74M viewers for the season premiere, down to 17.7M viewers last week, and down again to 16.2M viewers for this week's episode. Certainly, the numbers haven't shown any sign of stabilizing yet after the bump generated by the hype for the season premiere.
