Your objection to taking the knee in silence prior to the match where ALL the players support their teammates who are of racial minorities, and suffer constant abuses from the racist fans on the pitch and online. Says it all!!
To you maybe it says it all, but I dont want any politics mixed with sports, whether thats left- or right-wing

Twitter did the right thing by banning the accounts. Soccer is full of crazies and racists fans. English are well known for being the worst, they beat up Danish fans, went after Italian fans during the last game. But it happens in other countries too.

don't care what happened in the game don't care about any sports I don't even know who won nor do I care

I do care about disrespecting the flag and the country they deserve to be booed protest on your own time not at work hell I think anyone who protests at work should be fired instantly do it on your own time

go into your office disrupt it by protesting, piss off a large part of your customers/clients and see in the real world how long you would have a job

So... you care that the flag is disrespected (which it was not), but when actual people are disrespected, you do 't give a fuck.

Got it.

Easy to Google. And it's not a competition as to what race had the most people killed. (If it was the Chinese and Russians would take the prize anyway).

Your problem is that you have the stereotypical notion that all soldiers killed in the World Wars were super patriotic, anthem-loving, right wing white dudes who would be pissed at players taking the knee and that somehow the current generation "owes it to them" to remain standing. This is a right wing propaganda construct that is pumped out on Fox News and rightie websites. In actual fact, those killed in the World Wars came from a variety of races and a variety of political beliefs and somehow connecting them to the anthem is an artificial exercise of projecting current right wing media obsessions onto historical people who were completely unaware of them.

What do you think of the racist abuse heaped on the black England players?.... THAT'S what the thread is about. Kneeling for the anthem has been debated to death on this board for the last year or so.
Nice try you sound like frank trying to tell people what they "really mean" and such

I don't give a flying fuck about sports at all

I am 100% against kneeling in sports you want to play politics do it on your own time they are disrespectful and deserve to get booed

don't follow sports at all so I don't know or care what happens to the players

don't bring politics and personal protests to work nobody pays to hear what a player thinks they pay to watch a sport

I have served and fought for the USA I am 100% against kneeling or disrespecting the flag

Boris Johnson also supported fans in booing the English Team when they took a knee to support racial equity at the beginning of each match…he talks outta both sides of his mouth.
I think what Boris said/meant is that if players have the right to kneel then the fans have the right to boo or not.

I'll give you a similar example. In my neighbourhood some houses fly the "Rainbow Flag". Most houses, including the two gay houses don't. Just because someone doesn't fly the Rainbow Flag doesn't mean they are anti-gay.

BTW: Best soldiers in the British army are the Sikhs. Best soldiers in the Canadian army are the Sikhs.

You don't have to like it... you rail against when "snowflakes" are "offended"... am I right?

The right to peaceful protest is in your constitution.

And when when athletes do protest away from the game, say on twitter, guys like yourself get mad then too.

Let me ask... is it the protest or the message you're mad at?

You may not want it but it's there whether you like it or not when it comes to national teams playing each other
Pretty much only with England. They along with Wales and the Swiss were the only countries to take the knee at the euro, all the other countries said no thanks (as they should)

Actually a FEW more countries than that took any knee. Many others decided to point to the "RESPECT" logo on their shirts as a substitute.

Sport is sport. It's just a bunch of men pretending to be boys playing games and getting paid well for it while we watch and cheer and in some cases beat the shit out of each other because we lost.
At the National level patriotism becomes an overwhelming factor and in doing so opens the door for politics. It's been done in the past and it will be done again in the future.

I like you wish otherwise but that AINT gonna happen any time soon. That being said I don't object to the gesture.

The vast majority of countries did not take the knee. Thats a fact!
Even players dont like mixing sports with politics

I'll bet you any money taking the stupid knee will die out soon (as it should).
If you wanna get into politics do so on your own time, or run for office.

Sports has always been, and will always be political. Nationalism and regionalism is political, for starters, but here a host of other examples.

The racists need to stop acting like sports just got political just because they are uncomfortable being called out.

Its got nothing to do with racism. I remember even in the 1980's when I grew up as a kid being annoyed that the Soviet Union would boycott the olympics, and vice versa when the US/Canada boycotted olympics as well. I prefer everyone just leave politics out of it
