Questions and questioning.

either you are very, very young and shouldn't be allowed on this site, or you are talking about wars within the greater scarborough area
What war was fought for NA freedom since the invention of the nuclear bomb???

And Picky, please take this question in the spirit intended and if you think I’m out of line, then tell me so. This is not a personal attack, rather a sincere question. Is there anything on this planet that makes you HAPPY? I mean, truly happy? Please don’t give me some smart a$$ answer like Gertrude @ HFH or whatever. Ever since I’ve known you on these boards, and dating way back to our first on-line encounter, you portray little else other than cynicism. It’s such a shame as you obviously have so much going for you; you’re young, extremely intelligent, articulate, passionate about your beliefs…. with a splash of arrogance thrown in <understatement lol!>. If you’re not careful Picky, you greatly risk going from the young jaded man that you seem to be….into an old jaded man in the blink of an eye. That would be a waste. I just hope you are working towards channeling all of your energy and qualities into something positive in your life.
Why don't you attack my arguments head on with logic instead of trying to diminish my POV by questioning my character? If you felt that way you should've PM'ed me. I think deep down you realize I'm right but don't want me to shake you back to reality from your utopian mindset so you dismiss me as cynical (it's your defense mechanism). The fact of the matter is that war is often glamorized with emotionally steeped rhetoric to manipulate the masses and dumb them down from asking tough questions. I think we are witnessing that in this thread. Don't just blindly accept the status quo ("Fools follow the rules when the set commands ya"). If you do that would be a waste because someone as intelligent as you should be an enlightened free thinker set apart from the "mass mind rape" which is subtly (depending on your viewpoint I guess) reinforced in threads such as these. As far as I'm concerned, I don't view myself as terribly cynical, BUT... I do possess a healthy dose of skepticism, and I can't resist giving a "shout out to the living dead" from time to time.

Vanessa,

Why didn't you go to the Terb party? I would have loved to meet Miss Mary Poppins in the flesh. Your favourite poster Hepcat was there too. :) Between the both of us we would've jaded your perspective.

PS - No hard feelings.

Picky!

The US military fights for corporate America....
Actually, I thought the U.S. military was fighting for some old fool in the White House who seems to be striving desperately to bring the U.S. economy to its knees. Seems to have something to do with the religious right and Israel and biblical prophecies and that kind of thing. It's a good thing we Canadians won't have to fund the deficits he's running up with our tax dollars but I'm afraid that we as individual consumers will still have to foot the bill for the higher oil prices caused by U.S. policies toward Iraq since the end of the Gulf War in 1991.

Yet another...Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the house
everyone felt shitty
even the mouse
Mom at the whorehouse
and dad smoking grass
I'd just settled down
for a nice piece of ass
When out on the lawn
I heard such a clatter
I sprung from my piece
to see what's the matter
Then out on the lawn
I saw a big dick
I knew in a moment
it must be Saint Nick
He came down the chimney
like a bat out of hell
I knew in a moment
the old fucker fell
He filled all our stockings
with pretzels and beer
and a big rubber dick
for my brother the queer
He rose up the chimney
with a thunderous fart
the son of a bitch
blew the chimney apart
He swore and he cursed
as he rode out of sight
piss on you all
and have a good night
Have A Nice Christmas, Terbites

There's something about Mary!

As much as I would love to Picky, I can't attend TERB parties due to privacy issues, or lack thereof.

One thing I can assure you; if I were ever to spend an evening with you and Hepcat, you would both walk out changed men; with a *much* more positive perspective on life :)

Yours truly,
Mary
Seems she's an incurable optimist. But then, she hasn't yet met those two!!

You might have a chance with Seven since he's still a young fellow (sort of) but I'm just too set in my ways to be changed.

I am, however, intrigued by the possibility of luring that notorious old curmudgeon Vidi Vici Veni out of hiding and into the light of day.

I'll buy your dinner and drinks just to make this happen. You can even choose the restaurant. I can just picture it now... Hepcat the Michael Douglas Hollywood type stockbroker vs. little Miss Mary Poppins.

Nope, that isn't going to happen. Saddam may have been convinced to come out of his hole but not I. :)
