Could be but based on their behaviour before and after the allegations, it seems much more likely that she is a lying opportunistic nutbar.
Paikin is mostly done now and he knows it. He will likely be gone very shortly. In the current climate once this type of accusation is made, none of the accused survive. This is the case of a guy with a positive public personna versus an accuser with a relatively odious one, but none the less we don't have all the facts. TVO doesn't want the liability.
Ratings could go up! A lot of people are sick of this shit,men and women.True victims may back off on sex assault charges because they don't want to have the possibility of being swept up with the wave of bullshit out there.
They were discussion on the radio how much this may cost women professionally as well, one executive was saying to another that you have to think now days if you hire a women,you are running the risk of this.
And it is nice to have TVO at least say innocent until proven guilty.

Thomson said in her email to Paikin, obtained by the Star, that her executive assistant went back to their office after lunch and told the “entire campaign team… you weren’t interested in discussing the show but instead wanted to sleep with me.”
Ryan Kelly told the Star Tuesday he worked as an assistant for Thomson during her 2010 campaign.
George Tory, who along with Kinga Surma, was one of Thomson’s co-campaign managers beginning August 2010, said in an email Tuesday that Kelly was Thomson’s executive assistant and that he “can’t think of any other executive assistants.” Surma has not responded to requests for comment.
Kelly said he has no knowledge of Thomson meeting with Paikin.
“I do not believe I am the witness Thomson is referring to her in her blog post discussing her interaction with Mr. Paikin. That is because at no time during my involvement with her campaign did I attend any meetings attended by Mr. Paikin,” Kelly said.

If Paikin is fired, I'm never watching TVO again! The last good program they had was "Today's Special".
I too get this vibe that she is a nutcase and guys stay away (no run away) if you see her in public (do not engage).
That'd be why they're keeping him on the air, and fully occupied in his usual role.
Of course he could, but equally possible, so could she. Only when the facts are known, will anyone be able to say for sure. Until then why pump up the foolishness by speculating?

The best thing that is going to come out of this is that Sarah Thomson, after been proven to have made up this story, is never going to be heard from again. Thank god for that.
The only way I would consider believing Thomson is if her allegation is corroborated by her assistant at the time. Her previous allegation against Rob Ford touching her ass was already disproved so her credibility is weak to begin with. Paikin has been doing this for 30 years. He takes his reputation very seriously in many ways it's his value proposition. One of professionalism, integrity and objectivity. I find it HIGHLY unlikely this event ever occurred. Sounds like he is ready to fight this tooth and nail. I wish him well.
Why would anyone care? Who even watches TVO? I bet most people have never heard of Steve Paikin and the channel gets a 0.1 Nielsen rating.
