Oh, I don't for a moment think he is unique. Far from it. But his war on drugs stance and laws he mde make him a big target on this. He said it didn't matter who they were, on the Senate Floor. Theyneed to go to jail.

I'll admit, I'm unfamiliar with this case. But, here's a shocker, affluent people, even if they're not politically connected, get preferential treatment in the US legal system. For someone of privilege to be sent to jail for an offence like this, they would have had to do something off the hook to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I mean, even in recent history, there are a number of cases where wealthy white boys got out of serious trouble...Like rapist Brock Turner or the Affluenza douche Ethan Couch.

Just remember, the colour of your skin or the amount of money in your families bank account matters significantly more than the actual details of a crime...

But there is VERY little evidence to the allegations. Maybe he was caught with pot of mushrooms. Those are controlled substances. It's doubtful he was doing heroine or cocaine. The more I think about it, the less this makes sense on certain levels.

As for the records being sealed...successful competition of a drug rehabilitation program could result in that happening, if they kept their nose clean for a probationary period afterwards. So, that's not as unusual as you make it sound like. Especially if it was for a small amount of pot...
