I have had it with ppl complaining about not making enough money...benifits ect ect

If you dont like your job get another

In 2007 I worked harder than ever to make the same money as the year before.

If the traffic gets too bad I will ride my bike or walk

my 2 cents

If Ronald Reagan was Canada's leader he break the union and hire replacement workers but Canada doesn't seem that far right-yet.

In a very dark place
Hopefully those PTSD sluggos at the TTC will suffer for this, but i doubt it.

Maybe we could hire Lady Thatcher to take care of them. Ask the freakin miners how she negotiates.:D

Heard the union boss explaining the salary demands the other day...compared to bus drivers in other cities, only 1-2% difference. However, he says, the real comparison is the contract dump truck drivers and snow plow operators for the city. Compared to these CONTRACT workers TTC drivers are about 20 to 30% behind! We should be higher cause we drive people, they just drive snow and rocks etc.!!!!

He doesn't seem to acknowledge the difference between contract work and salary work with benefits and security and health plans and pensions etc. Funniest damn thing.

City should open up the parking lots and give up on ticketing at meters and hunker down for the long haul...but then again, I'm not a union man

The strike is going to be a pain in the butt for me but I'm curious about one of the union demands...they want full pay for days that they got injured on the job?

Why is that even a demand? Shouldn't it have been given already? If I got injured on the job, for sure I'd want full pay, not reduced pay.

The odds of Dalton having the balls to declare it an essential service are slim.

Another case of the union leaders leading the rank and file down the garden path.

Rules are governed by Workman's Compensation in this Province. Most companies supplement this with some kind of short or long-term disability but it rarely equals full working wages. I agree with you in principal but you'd be surprised at the can of worm's you open up by not providing an incentive to get better. This would be like giving the union the key to the city vault.

All of a sudden everyone has a sore neck or carpel tunnel or whatever soft tissue injury they can make up. Hell we have that kind of abuse now under the current system. I'd agree to it for certain kinds of injuries but not for muscle strains or mental stress and all the other bullshit claims.

So you don't get full wage when you're injured at work...don't tell me you didn't know that before taking the job.

I heard some people saying driving a bus is a dangerous job. So it's working at a Coffee Time at 1am in the morning in a less than reputable neighbourhood, but they get minimum wage and I doubt any benefits.

Again, not happy with your job? Get another one.

I've seen exactly this kind of thing with my stepfather, who works for Air Canada. He stubs his toe? Oops, must be broken! Union rep tells him to go on disability. Month off. Bangs his wrist against a truck? More disability! He's retiring soon (oh yeah, kickass pension too! I don't get that either, other than what I put into my RRSP!) but over the last year, I think he's spent roughly 4-5 months on disability.
And you're blaming the union for that? Sounds like your stepfather's the real problem.

Nice attitude. I'm sure you'd make a great manager.

He'd make a great manager and Toyota is a great company to work for.

Who needs a union? Someone who can't get a job on his/her own without their hands being held.:p

Unions like the TTC think that they can always get what they want, and will hold all the riders hostage now to force the city's hand. Bunch of M/F. Don't tell me about Unions, I spent 12.5 years in Teamsters, all they do is protect the shit disturbers....and it's okay if a guy goes off work for 6 months because of a sliver in his finger, and meanwhile drives taxi on the side

You gotta be joking. Ever consider that the driver may not have had a choice in joining the union?

Do the people that have to walk to work on Monday have a choice? These stupid fucks are holding the city hostage, they wouldn't do shit to help you, I say give their over-paid ass's a nice beat down and they can stick it right up their kinnier.......

Maybe it's time the public struck against the union. Picket their pickets, don't let them go home when they want to. Picket the negotiation site, and nobody - union or managment - leaves until they settle it. They incovenience us, we inconvenience them.
