It's not good, but there are bigger objectives in mind. To avoid not getting into the weeds too much, let's say it might give pause to an American manufacturer thinking about moving production to Mexico or elsewhere.
or give pause to American companies that were thinking of expanding because of inevitable retaliation and higher costs of supplies like Canadian steel and aluminum.

Trump needs to look at the big picture though right?

are you agreeing he is a short sighted long winded buffoon ? maybe there is hope for you afterall. Trump is just saying things to try to seem important. He wants to be known as a great president who accomplished great things, but in reality he will always be remembered as a deeply flawed felon who was a joke as a leader. His only skill is creating mistrust, confusion and discord. His actions will reverberate around the world for decades and not in a positive way. He destroyed any credibility the US ever had. Allies used to be able to trust America but not any more. No agreement is worth the toilet paper its written on now. Donnies word means less than nothing

Ory, honest question,

will you be pissed at Trump if he follows through with the tariffs even though Canada is doing more to appease him at the border?
he needs to stop the 1% of illegals and drugs coming in from Canada. Its worth 15 % inflation for Americans for sure

I suppose when you have an over $800 billion dollar trade deficits year after year you're willing to shake up the world trade order that favors mercantilist countries. There will certainly be American multinationals that are unhappy with this policy, but this will have the the effect of favoring American production and the American worker.

How about Justin shutting his yap and not purposely trying to get him going.
I don't think Trump has ever singled out a world leader like he has Trudeau in the past few months. Trump can be an asshole, but I don't think he went looking for this fight. Knowing Trump never backs away from a fight, I would say Trudeau was pretty damn stupid to criticize Trump directly or indirectly.

Since we've been on the subject of TDS a bit, TDS could be manifested when you champion your leader criticizing the future leader of the economic behemoth on your border.

Saying that he was disappointed when your country failed twice to elect a woman was about as dumb as you can get. A direct shot at Trump. Trump in years past has said that Justin was two faced. Right from when they talked about NAFTA in his first presidency. Trump demands respect and if you don't give it then watch out.

Hopefully Mr. Poilievre can right the sinking diplomacy relationship between the countries. O'Leary believes he should be the one going to Mar-a Lago but he won't risk it optics wise.

How many years would it take for that favorable effect to take place though? Weakening your closest ally doesn't make any sense to me. Once Justin is finito for good there is no need force Canada to bend the knee. Trump needs to embrace Canada not push it away.

I can't tell you exactly what the end game is. I suspect things will be much better if Poilievre takes over. However if I speculated that Canada will accelerate reaching it's 2% NATO commitment, would that surprise anyone?

Yes reaching the 2% commitment will be the barter position. I agree. I was thinking about that earlier today.

There we decided it..

Why are you dodging my question? Even your love interest Daniel Smith has said after rushing to Maro Lago to kiss the ring that the tariffs are coming so please answer the question.

Based on this reply to Wyatt, I can see you do not approve of the tariffs, but would you have if Justin was still sitting in the seat? Then it would be fine for Trump to force Canada to bend the knee. It's just a follow-up question.

Ah, so it's not about the border, which is nonsense to begin with, but it's about the 2%, which now Trumputin is claiming should be 5%. I'm just curious how Pee Pee is going to absorb this exactly. Just to be fair to Trumputin he's never mentioned the 2% being tied to the tariffs. It started with the border then moved on to using economic force to force us to accept being the 51st state. Annexing Canada through an economic war, then using force if necessary on Denmark and Panama, the so-called anti-war president.
