President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has selected retired Army Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg to serve as Assistant to the President and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia.

“Keith has led a distinguished Military and Business career, including serving in highly sensitive National Security roles in my first Administration,” Trump said in a statement. “He was with me right from the beginning!”

“Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!” Trump added.

Kellogg served during Trump’s first term in office as a national security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence.

“It was the privilege of my life working for President Trump, and I look forward to working tirelessly to secure peace through strength while upholding America’s interests,” he continued. “I am ready with the commitment and dedication it deserves.”

During the Biden-era, Kellogg has served as the Co-Chairman of the Center for American Security at the America First Policy Institute.

Kellogg wrote in a policy paper at the institute that Russia’s war in Ukraine was “an avoidable crisis that, due to the Biden Administration’s incompetent policies and rejection of the America First approach to national security, has entangled America in an endless war.”

He said the administration’s “risk-averse pattern in the armament of Ukraine coupled with a failure in diplomacy with Russia has prolonged the war in Ukraine, which now finds itself in a war of attrition with Russia.”

He wrote that the U.S. plans to seek “a cease-fire and negotiated settlement” to bring the war in Ukraine to an end.

“The United States would continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defenses to ensure Russia will make no further advances and will not attack again after a cease-fire or peace agreement,” he said. “Future American military aid, however, will require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia.”

Future American military aid to Ukraine will amount to chump change
compared with the big money the U.S. military industries are going to make
from Europe's spending on shoring up its defense. Cold war is better
for the economy than fighting a real war on the battlefield.

So it will be good business and in the best interests the United States to equip Ukraine to demonstrate, field test, prove and improve their weapons systems to show they are better than buying European systems!

Right? 😜

IMO if Europe feels that the United States is no longer a reliable ally whose word is not trustworthy when the chips are down, they will also become isolationist and continue to develop their own Made in The EU aircraft, radars, missiles, munitions, small arms etc. They will wean themselves off what US weapons they buy now.

And Europe has proven they can design and build, among other things, excelllent aircraft, missiles, small arms etc. And for less money.

Likely best to dial back the support enough so that Ukraine cant beat the snot out of Russia , Putin has nukes.
but do not pull too much support or Putin will try his luck again,
a bit of a tightrope act

Trump wont want to get too politically entangled in that mess, and he will not want to send $ to Ukraine

Europe has to get its shit together
they have gotten quite use to the US defence backstop (close to 80 years)

they dug themselves into a big hole chasing green energy unicorns
war is/ was very energy intensive
flying drones might reduce some of that energy demand , but you still need soldiers / tons of equipment to take a position .
that takes energy and lots of it

what's the mileage like on a solar powered tank ?

Putin is a ruthless aggressor who wants to rebuild the USSR empire by force and intimidation. He needs to be opposed by all democratic nations. The only peace negotiations should be " get the fuck out of Ukraine...now!"

Trump is doing his job. "get the fuck out of 80% of
Ukraine" negotiation is better than no peace
negotiation at all. The alternative to peace negotion is
for Trudeau and his ilk among NATO leaders to megotiate
with taxpayers to decide how much more $$$ to get
out of them and for how much longer.

The Russian bear is wounded
A wounded bear is a very dangerous animal
Pretending Putin does not have nukes is just plain stupid

NATO members (including Canada) need to stick to their commitments and not expect the US to always pick up the slack.
Trump had said it many times and he has a point.

When did anybody anywhere say Poutine didn't have nukes?

Also, shh,, come closer... we also have nukes.

Assuming that Poutine and the people around him don't have a death wish is very reasonable.

Also China has probably gave them a solid no on using nukes. As someone who knows a thing or two [not me] points out. Nukes are very good for taking out a landing beach and once nukes are used, any attempt by West Taiwan to invade Taiwan becomes much much more difficult

Never mind that, although the gravity bombs and nukes on subs probably work. I wouldn't put too much faith in the rest of their nukes. The US spends about as much just maintaining thier nukes as Russia does on their whole army. Russia is known to have serious maintenance deficits, money gets used for hookers and Yachts, wiring gets wold for Vodka etc This was an issue during the cold war, it has been much worse since. There was a recent scandal about the Chinese nukes also. Even at the height of the cold war, the American nuclear fleet wasn't exactly 100% either, the Russians would be much much worse.

Also it isn't the 1980s, When you combine a similar amount of nukes [and a much smaller number] [assuming they all work] NATO has a much more targets, We would fuck up Russia [and China and North Korea and Iran] much more than they would fuck us up. Not saying it wouldn't be extremely grave for both sides, but an exchange would be much worse for Russia than us. He would be better off living a life of luxury in North Korea with their pleasure squads, or China or other options than ruining his country and probably dying or at least being hunted down.

Fuck charity work. We should kick terminally ill children in the face. I mean your honour, she is 4 and terminally ill, I'm not not going to kick her in the face -Jon Lajoie

But it's also to out benefit. It's been explained a 100 times before but I guess if you have been grifted by Trump, there is no point considering any other concepts.

Except the Ukrainians are winning.

And if they don't, it'll be "Poland is charity work".

Then it will be "France and Germany are charity work".

And then it will be "Defending Massachusetts is charity work. We still have 17 other states that the Russians don't own yet."

And so on.

Kinda like Neville Chamberlain said "Czechoslovakia is charity work" before the Germans bombed the shit out of London.
