The case can be fast tracked though. The Court of Appeal can expedite those appeals. The amount of delay that can be caused is limited.
Trump may indeed have the extremely high level of arrogance and impracticality to force these issues all the way to SCOTUS, but of course those are the very characteristics it takes to get there. People who "do whatever it takes" are exactly the people who end up making a difference in society, because the status quo is that hard to change.
