The biggest mistake anti-Trump people make is to underestimate the intelligence of his supporters.
But you don't have to believe me...just keep believing what the leftist propaganda feeds you...helps us win elections as proven.
You don't need intelligence to be a MAGA voter.
If they had any intelligence they wouldn't elect a corrupt, incompetent, rapist to office.

Retaliatory tariffs will not be effective.
Trump is a grifter; treat him like any other grifter.
Bribe him.
Zuckerberg and Bezos did.
The same thing happened in Trump's first term with the Chinese tariffs, Trump sold tariff exemptions, which is why so many big companies; Apple, Meta, Microsoft, etc... got exemptions. Small and Medium businesses that could not afford the bribe got the shaft.

Yeah...

Counting the fact that Mexican workers make on average 25k/year... It's still more profitable to keep the production in Mexico and let the tariffs in.

American companies will simply raise their price accordingly, knowing they will pocket the equivalent of the tariff. Much easier to make a quick profit and boost shares then to deal with adding production plants.

Peanuts.
Exactly, raise US prices .take that profit to cover losses on imported cars, and wait until Trump smashes into a wall face first,.

The objective is to bring the auto jobs back to the US. There is a reason the UAW announced support today.
When is that going to occur? Overnight? Meanwhile Trump is triggering inflation and going to make it unaffordable for those on lower incomes to own cars!!

Well the UAW upper echelon have a similar reputation to Trump himself!!

That's probably not going to happen because it takes years to build new plants, and the auto companies have said they're not sure they're going to do that

Ontario exports 69 billion dollars worth of cars and car parts to the US, That is 6 percent of Ontario's gdp.

Yep.

A new plant takes nearly 10 years from discussion, decision, conception, construction, to production.

It's not a decision based on a political party.

Meanwhile Canada could end tariffs on China and we could get $20 BYD's that are better cars.

Would be the first one to buy it!

"The average price of a Canadian EV is around $73,000, while the BYD Seagull, produced by Chinese automaker BYD, costs around $13,000 on the domestic market."

13k! I would buy one for me and my 2 kids! I bought a 2018 Mazda for my oldest kid and paid more.

The problem is that if we let them in, many of the 120k jobs in the car industry in Ontario would be gone.

Many of those 120K jobs will be gone regardless if Oakville and Oshawa are left out of the US Market. Stellantis is different, the majority owner is Exor with Blackrock having a minority stake. They could ship production to Benelux.

Although Exor's sports holdings aren't looking very good.

The tariff will most probably lead to a shortage of... Toilet paper!

Damn are we back to 2020?

Can you imagine the average American without toilet paper? No you cannot! Neither can I.
