House committee releases new evidence from investigation into Trump administration interference with CDC during Covid-19 pandemic

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis released to CNN on Friday new evidence showing how US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials were pressured by Trump administration officials to alter scientific guidance and prevented from communicating directly with the public.

Not really a shock, we all know the former guy screwed up the covid response. And, according to Dr. Deborah Brix, it could have prevented 30-40% or Covid deaths.

I can say that American's were going to die because of Covid. Wouldn't matter who was in charge. But Trump could have prevented a lot of deaths if he took action. Instead he downplayed things, called it a flu that would disappear. Those are the facts. As much as you want to pretend Trump and his administration handled things appropriately, consider this: The US is roughly 10X Canada's population. So, we've only had 29,000 deaths (which, to be franks, is too many). Times that by 10 you get 290,000. The US has over 700K dead. Now, granted a lot have died since Trump left office, but that's mostly because Trump Acolytes like DeSantis and Abbott (and a bunch of other red state governors) refuse to do anything to blunt the spread of the disease.

Remember trump is on tape in an interview w Bob Woodward saying he was briefed and knew how dangerous the virus was. But he decided his reelection was more important than the lives of his fellow Americans. You can gaslight people and particularly your followers, but you can't gaslight a virus.

People in USA are still dying, still insisting it's a hoax, denying medical professionals who tell them they have covid.

He did no such thing. And in the early days of the pandemic Trump went gangbusters on getting 'blue' states additional resources they needed. But the Blue State governors bungled their response because they are incompetents.
