I am fine with helping our allies out in the near term. I am just wondering
if that would be made the justification of growing Canada's oil production
further into the future. First oil from the Bay Du Nord offshore oil project
will not be drawn until the end of 2028 which seems too distant to be of
help. But I guess that won't deter our climate leaders from using the energy
crisis in Germany to excuse our growing contribution to global carbon emission.
That is the reason why not only Canada but all the nations around the Globe should accelerate the Research into alternatives to Fossil Fuels.
If GM did not make that very erroneous decision to scrap the EV1 in 1999, all the competitors would have accelerated their investment into the Electric / Hybrid technology. Germany also hastily scrapped their Nuclear Power Stations after that disastrous eruption in Fukushima, where the half life drop in the radiation will not occur until around 2040. None of us would want such a health concern in our backyards. Maybe Germany's Nuclear Power plants were not very secure. But the global carbon emissions are a real cause for concerns, with more and more of the very climate skeptic leaders now realizing the impact of these Green House Gases to the environment!!
