Troubling. Seems like an instance of a pot actually calling a kettle black. or something close. You have to be sensitive to your audience. I was in Athens, Greece, years ago. Went out for supper with a group of people from the hostel where I was staying. A young Australian guy started telling these horrible, unfunny "Abbo" jokes. We were staring uncomfortably at the floor until he finally shut up. A while later, a dark skinned guy with frizzy hair and a murderous look in his eyes passed by the table and gave the guy a well deserved kidney punch and muttered, "quit the Abbo jokes, white boy". Who would have guessed. An Aussie Aboriginal would be sitting a few seats away.

Why they picked Trevor Noah to replace Jon Stewart I’ll never know. I’d seen a couple of his standup shows before he took over and I never thought he was particularly funny. It’s interesting that Russell Peters has a problem with him, since their acts are actually pretty similar. Russell is much better at it, though. Noah has awful comedic timing, he laughs at his own jokes, he’s terrible at doing accents and impressions, for a guy who’s act revolves so heavily around ethnic humour, you’d think he’d be better at that stuff.

I guess they wanted John Oliver originally, but he’d gotten his HBO deal by then. Too bad, really, he did a very good job taking over for Stewart while he was away doing his movie. The Daily Show just hasn’t been great since Trevor Noah took over. I’m kind of surprised it’s lasted this long, actually. I guess it’s been on long enough to have “tenure” at this point.

John Oliver is brilliant (still can't get Lord Buckethead out of my mind) but he's only doing it once a week. Trevor Noah has to do it daily, which is why most of his jokes come off as smarmy rather than funny. Haven't seen his stand up. Russell Peters is too sharp for American audiences.

It needs to be repeated!

Trevor is a decent talent, his accents are pretty much on point and nothing wrong with his comedic timing is fine. Russell Peters is quite average.

Anyway, give me Mooney, Dave, Burr or Griffin over these any day.

Correct on the former. I was a huge fan of Stewart for most of his run. Dvred every episode.

When he retired I gave Noah about 9 months but he just didn't click with me.

I think it's because Stewart, while a good liberal at heart(and one I agreed with on many topic for discloser) also happily went after both sides of the aisle. I think that's why he could get the top Politicos to interview. They knew they would get a fair shake.

But I think him, Colbert, Bee, Oliver have taken a difinitive side. And that makes them more shills for the DNC than commentators and comedians.
