Based solely off the title and what you wrote, i would infer that it was a domestic violence case.. dude killed his kid, cops showed up, dude shoots the cop.

I live in this community and this was a tragic outcome. People have firearms in the community because most people hunt and for protection its just the way of life out here. I was actually wondering why the road was closed and didnt know what happened until I read this post. I myself dont have a firearm and never will. Condolences to the family.

Regardless of who's bullet killed the unfortunate child the father must bear full responsibility, had he not kidnapped the child the little boy would be alive today. Police officers have a right to defend themselves before one, two or three of them are killed.
