Scottie Barnes, pick number 4. Does not have mind-blowing stats but has good efficiency from the field, so he does have great potential. I was expecting Jalen Suggs. I think this means that they are trying hard to trade Pascal Siakam, since Barnes is a forward.

Dalano Banton, pick number 46. Huge guard, originally from Toronto. His stats are also not mind-blowing. Not a well-known prospect. Looks like more of a defensive presence due to his length.

David Johnson, pick number 47. Another lesser known guard.

Masai is trying to stack the back court up with developmental guards, behind Fred Vanvleet, as Lowry is most likely to depart to a contender for his last few playing years. Now we need a damn big man....

I am not Raptors fan, but was really surprised they passed on Jalen Suggs for Barnes. Scottie Barnes is a really long arms & legs great defensive player, but lacks shooting. In some ways Barnes reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen or a Draymond Greene type of player. I don't know what the Raptors need or what best fits the team, word was Barnes pre-draft workouts were really impressive.

Barnes will replace Siakim if they can trade him.

Lowry is gone to Miami in a sign and trade which gives us Dragic and Achiuwa.
Dragic will most likely be traded as he has value. Unlikely he will be bought out. If not he will be good coming off the bench but hard to pay him almost $20 million to do that. Potentially can help net us a big.
Achiuwa has a lot of upside. Promising power forward. High energy, defensive guy who will help coming off the bench.

If Freddy is healthy and They already have Mallachi...I like this pick.

This pick was a head scratcher.
I think it comes down to ..... Suggs is currently at a higher floor, but they see Scottie as a higher ceiling. And if you have full confidence in your development system (given the players they have created from much lower level picks ) You take the guy that has more upside potential. Suggs is good, but perhaps another nba point guard averages long-term. Scottie Barnes has a wing span larger than Giannis, hands larger than KAwhi, he's 225 and 6'9 and only 20. that's a freak....and can play every position with a focus on defense. They see him as the next Giannis they can develop under their system.

Looking forward to seeing how well they do with him. To bad lowry not there to help develop his on court IQ

I would agree he is best suited at forward but Barnes actually played primarily at PG in college and he's big enough to play C in small lineups. He's a swiss army knife that can excel at every position.
As great_times2 said, Suggs is the safer pick with the higher floor but Barnes ceiling is way higher. If I had to bet on one of the two completely flaming out or wager on one of the two becoming an elite superstar, I would put my money on Barnes for both. From what I saw of them in college (admittedly not much..... especially Barnes) I just don't see superstar in Suggs. I see him being a good player maybe even an all star a couple of times but might be like Lowry in that much of what makes him valuable isnt reflected on that stat sheet.
Barnes is not considered a good shooter but neither is Suggs so if you cancel that out for both, Barnes upside is far higher.

If this was the case then Ujiri or Webster would've done a swap with Orlando like Grunwald did with the Warriors back in 1998.
That's making huge assumptions...... That the Magic were willing to add anything worthwhile to swapping, otherwise why bother?
That the Magic didn't prefer Barnes over Suggs too. Most expected Barnes to go to Orlando (after Toronto took Suggs) so it's very reasonable to assume Orlando liked Barnes and would have taken him at #4 anyhow.
Not to mention if true that OKC liked Barnes, they could have traded with Orlando to swap 6 for 4 and Toronto would have been stuck with their second choice.

Any thoughts on how the Raps will perform in the 2021/22 season?

My prediction is for 41wins and fighting to make the play in round..

I do like the Scottie Barnes pick!!!

I think they’ll be in contention for one of the lower playoff seeds but they’re probably no better than 6th in the conference. From there they could be capable of upsetting the higher seed in the first round but I think that’s the absolute best they could hope for.

Well looks like Masai has done it again.

Barnes was very impressive in the first Summer League game.

Raps have a great development system, He has great all-around potential.
Yes he did, but always remember Summer League is just unstructured play with a lot of guys that will never make it in the league. He does have traits you can't teach, athleticism with long arms & legs. If he can develop a decent NBA offensive game, with his defensive hustle.......hello a poor man's Scottie Pippen.
