You keep on believing that.
FYI Detroit knocked off Tampa today and that pretty much assures they finish ahead of the Leafs, so the chances keep getting slimmer. Think they can beat the Flames?:frusty:

chances are getting less BUT they aint out of it yet.
The problem is I believe they have to finish ahead of the Wings, Blue Jackets and Caps. I think they all have the tiebreaker over the Leafs and the Devils are right behind them with 2 games in hand and an easier schedule.

Damn Olympics !

Since the Olympic break the Leafs have not regained that magic they had before the break.
Leafs were 32-22-6 on Feb 10 and are 4-12(two OT losses) since the end of the Olympics.

Including OT losses the Leafs went from 32-28 to 36-40.

Now I am all for mixing the WJC in with the Olympics.
Every fourth year the WJC will be apart of the Olympics.

The Buffalo Sabres have announced, Ted Nolan has signed a contract extension and is officially named the team's Head Coach

Great news for this guy .. Often hoped the Leafs would give him a coaching gig ..

Who's with me to cheer on the Montreal Canadiens because they're the ONLY Canada (based) team left to participate in the Stanley Cup playoffs? :frusty:

Quebec has no place in my Canada.
Until Quebec starts treating English speaking folks properly I have no use for them. Funny thing is my part time job involves the Hamilton Bulldogs who are the Habs AHL team.

the Leafs biggest problem is the lack of physicality with the team. The opponents are flying out there and nobody back checks or takes players out hard, anymore. We lack the truculence that the team had last year.

hey saxon, take the flames Tuesday on proline, probably a decent price!
Now that you bring that up, I bet the Leafs against the Wings on Sat. and it cost me big. I had a bunch of soccer games that came in but I couldn't just leave it at that, I figured the Leafs would beat a beat up Detroit team at home and facing a lot of fan and media pressure but no I had to make it my sixth pick and fucked everything up. I'm betting the Leafs again tomorrow they have to wake up sometime, also going to take 3 Champions League games, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona.

I just remembered ... last Sunday Leafs at NJD my 'red goal light' never went on when Kessel scored in the third.
Anyone else who has one of those lights notice that ?

This comes up every year and every year I have the same response.

Fans in every other Canadian city love when the Leafs fail, love that the futility has gone on so long, would love it to keep going and love rubbing our noses in it.

Why in the world would I cheer for another team simply because they are based in Canada? If anything I cheer against them,, unless, of course they are playing Boston or Philly. If Montreal is playing either of those two, I have no interest until the following round when I can go back to cheering against whoever won.

On paper the Leafs are not that bad, they're actually one of the top teams in hitting. One of the main reasons for that IMO is because the amount of time the other teams spend in the Leafs zone allowing the Leafs to make body contacts. It also means that the Leafs are chasing the majority of time.

The difference between Komarov's hitting and this current crop is that Komaov has the quickness and low centre of gravity that his hits hurt more and are more effective in getting under the other players' skin than that of say Clarkson, Orr or Franson. Clarkson and Orr have much slower foot speed and Franson's hits are more body contacts than hits, and when he makes hard contacts, he often loses balance and defensive position.

As for the Calgary game, how sweet it will be for Burke if his team can put the final dagger in the Leafs' playoff hopes ?
