Tough to see Holyday leave City Hall. But he might be able to be vocal enough to keep the subway plans on track once this is over.
Just hope the voters in Scarborough-Guildwood take a close look at Mitzie Hunter the flip flop artist and the Lieberal Gang and don't elect them on "false pretense".

Are you guys still claiming that the liberals promised subways at any cost?

You must be Sun readers.

I hope he wins, but who knows.

I wouldn't put any stock in Forum Research's voice-interactive polls. Too unreliable.

Time for Change!!!!

Hopefully the Liebrals lose all 5 especially Scarborough-guildwood despite their false pretense effort flip-flopping on subway transit.

I'm hoping that the NDP gets the seats and it forces the PC's to replace Hudak.

I was surprised Timmy didn't step down after the last election.

Having a new face of leadership, one that distances itself from the "Harris" government is what the voters need.

Hmm. It seems Mitzie Hunter is now running lawn signs that describe her as "subway champion":
Fresh off the vote buying scandal of the power plants and the Liberals hop on board the Scarborough Subway platform - They would probably sacrifice their own young if it meant gaining a seat.

And similar to the gas plant fiasco from two years ago, it's unnecessary. This is probably the one byelection seat the Liberals could win without misleading voters.

-If the subway gets built, its going to be years before it happens, more studies needed, routes planned etc. Ford won't be around when the first shovel hits the ground.
-If they find the money from another project council's support for the subway is ended and it goes back to LRT, check the decision.
-If they end up with the LRT, the subway just gets bundled up with the ferris wheel and the 'private sector will build it', in the list of failures. His base may see it, but they will also see he can't get anything done and even voted to raise taxes.
-If the whole thing gets scrapped, Ford becomes the mayor who took us from the Metrolinx plan that was in placed, financed and in progress to nothing. He'll be known as a disaster.
Sorry, I've been away for a few--

Groggy, it's not that you're wrong, it's just not how I think it will play. Fortunately the deadline to revert back to LRT is tight, but given the vagaries of minority government and municipal politics, dithering is deadly. You're right that Ford will be long gone for any groundbreaking, but that won't stop him and his media pals from taking the credit. If it goes to pot, never underestimate the victim complex of the folks likely to consider voting for him. While other people try to use their words to explain, he will use his words like a hammer, and people will lap it up.

You might be right, but I think everyone is much more wary about supporting Ford. Council is probably still worried that he's got the fools in Ford Nation out in the burbs still behind him, but I doubt that anyone there would also risk backing him wholeheartedly. I expect everyone is playing their cards much closer to their chests on this one, its easy to say 'yes I support subways' and then to see what happens. But nobody is trying very hard to make this one happen, other then the lip service until the by elections are done. We'll get a better sense then. You may be right, but I'd be surprised.

I think the self-declared "subway champion" has done a little bit more than pay "lip service" to the idea.

Oh, well I assumed it was Ford because it mentioned only paying lip service to the idea of having subways.
