Lol ok, so it’s good that Elon is cutting so many programs now. The larger the deficit we have, the larger the pain it will be when that eventually happens. Social security and Medicare has to remain, but Medicaid and all other social programs will be abandoned to prepare for this.

Also you do realize that if the US falls at any point, so does Canada, which is an end to the social programs up there.
When it occurs, it will be world wide. The West just has further to fall. Honestly the debt and Central Banking System are just fake made up numbers. Based on faith. Literally.

China is going to crash hard. USA will as well. Canada will take a solid hit. So will Europe. Third world countries will chug along with a lower standard of living.

We shall see if hyper inflation truly comes about. That will be the worst part.

Sanctuary cities as a matter of policy limit police participation with ICE.
Someone who is in jail for possession of an ounce of weed, can be deported to a place where their lives may be in danger.
So it is reasonable to restrict participation with ICE for those reasons.
You just said they cooperate with ICE. Which is it? There are no provisions/restrictions for deportation to a nation based on this in USA law. And note New York is now allowing them access.

We ran into this as well with the Jamaican posses and the nascent refugee system, as well with some African Refugess. You send them back.

This is what I’m most afraid of. They are made up, and it could technically crash any time. Another reason why it’s absurd when I see people on here pushing for social causes when the money isn’t even there.

the left does not grasp the concept of financial responsibility by government
Most children believe the government is a bottomless pit of money

The ones that understand the government is not a bottomless pit of money, grow up and become adults, the rest sign up to become "progressives "

i have lost count of the number of times I have asked a lefty to explain what will happen when the government becomes insolvent.
They ALL run away at that point

its almost like they want to see a govt default i.e. some sort of strange proof capitalism / democracy does not work

New York is allowing them access because of the quid pro quo deal the DoJ cut with Eric Adams to drop his corruption charges.
I did not say they cooperate with ICE.
i said sanctuary cities do not prevent deportations or arrests, which is true.
If someone is a violent criminal am sure they would cooperate to have them arrested and removed, but if someone is engaged in petty crimes, or if they are just undocumented they may not.
That is reasonable.
Not sure what you are referring to about Jamaicans and Africans.

It's why I'm clearing debt. I will be completely in the black within 18 months. The banks will be the first to call in debt, try to take homes, and cause havoc. My Job is recession proof, so I will be able to ride things out. It won't be societal collapse bad. The rich still need consumers. But people aren't used to this. I rode out the 1990's recession just barely. Came close once to streetville. Although I'm sure I would have found a couch somewhere. I think that is coming again.

China will get it bad. I see a famine as possible there. USA I see some social unrest. How that plays out will be a regional thing. Social media will fan flames possibly.

But out of it will come an increased social contract.

Right after the 1979 Boat people crisis and the success in assimilation Canada adopted a very liberal refugee policy. This was taken advantage of by criminal gangs to open new territory. As well is was being used to bypass the usual immigration policies from third world nations. Basically you could get on a plane, shred your passport(they would find remnants in the toilets) and claim refugee status at the Border. It was a 5 year process, with housing etc granted. And at the end of five years it was usually granted because, well, they had lived here five years.

The criminals used it to get gang members up here and recruit locally. So eventually the system was tightened up.

As to the USA the problem is its an either/or situation. ICE was not granted any access. Because of what you feared. But it also meant the violent ones stayed as well.

With the Central Banking System it is a bottomless pit. Western nations manage it better. The majority of USA debt is military/industrial complex related, corporate welfare related, and is mostly printed money.

The debt is fake, the monetary system based on faith and projected economic output and consumer spending. The stock market rises and falls based as much on feelings/public opinion as actual company worth.

A govt in theory, so long as the nation has net output and exports won't go bankrupt. It can fall pretty hard but I don't, with Canada being a nation wealthy in resources, food supply, educated workforce, and access to various markets, see this as something to worry about short of a world War. Even then I expect any conflict to take place overseas. We have survived and come out ahead everything thrown at us since we became a nation. I see no reason this doesn't continue.

Migrants commit less crimes than native born citizens.
And Trump is not targeting criminals.
He is targeting everyone without due process because he invoked the alien enemies act.
Point being every crime an illegal immigrant commits is one more than should have happened. And the mood in the USA is isolationism. The policy has a majority support in polls.

It is a democracy. And this one will have consequences. Due process is a construct. It's not an absolute. It can be changed at any time.

As long as people exist, crimes exist.
Its not special when an illegal immigrant commits it.
But that aside, due process is not a construct. It is a constitutional right.
If it can just be changed at any time then that is an undermining of your fundamental freedoms.
Which is the danger with this administration.

There is a clear difference between due process for a citizen and a visitor. Go to ANY customs and immigration station for ANY nation and you can be denied entry for any reason they choose. And you don't have appeal rights or due process beyond that.

It's that simple. Trump, in this case, isn't even creating new laws, is he? He is just enforcing ones that in pretty much every case passed either bipartisan support or have approval because they were never repealed.

The USA economy has always had a permanent underclass of people subject to less rights and under laws to control them. From Slavery, to Jim Crow, Chinese worker visas, and now Central American illegals(they eliminated/restricted the old migrant worker visas) to control them, depress wages so the rich can have a disposable labor force for the service sector.

These laws are there primarily not to actually be used but to THREATEN to use them. But they exist. So blame the lawmakers who created them, not the guy enforcing them.

No there isn't.
A CBP officer can deny you entry, and that is per their function.
You are not within US borders before they give you entry and they are the gate keepers.
But once within US borders, you are entitled to due process whatever be your immigration status.
One of the reasons Guantanamo is located in sovereign Cuban territory is because if it is within the US, then the inmates would have to be provided due process just like citizens even if they are the most dangerous terrorists.
Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act, which give him emergency powers.
It was used 3 times before - War of 1812, WW1 and WW2 to weed out foreign spies.
He is using that to deny due process.
Essentially square pegging a round hole.

If you think about it, it's all just distraction really.

Ivanka converted to Judaism because of her guy Jared Kushner. If they didn't say anything about Elons' salute, or for that matter anyone else in Trump's circle that's Jewish, why is the rest of the world giving it any care?

Distraction.

She is doing the right thing.
Tesla should be driven out of the country.
We need tariffs on Tesla to the tune of 100% or more.
I would also want Starlink banned.
Ontario should cancel the contract.
We should not in any event be supporting the businesses of this Nazi.

The City needs revenue start issuing parking tickets to Teslas parking on Toronto streets.
So some person, who bought a Tesla 3 years ago, and votes Liberal should be subject to arbitrary fines because the automaker is an asshole?

What's next, you going to fine grocery shoppers after the bread price scandal?

You have kinda gone over the edge now.
