You need to ask yourself why that is. Have we been a good neighbor, a good trading partner, a good ally? And under Trudeau you can make the argument we have not been.
He supports California being a sanctuary state. Meaning that if people sneak into the state or overstay their visa, the government will put the mechanisms in place to support them against being deported.

Sanctuary cities means a police officer cannot arrest someone solely for their immigration status.
Any other crime the person can be deported or arrested.

The Overton Window shifted in the US, this is correct. Now the US is trying to shift the window for the rest of the world to come around. You can see pushback but I see it shifting, ever so slightly.
People will have enough where there is cohesion everywhere and everything has shifted back to the center and the progressive ideologies have been erased from mainstream culture. I truly believe this can be accomplished. Not unlike battling the spread of communism within its own citizens in the United States during the early/mid 20th century. We will get there but I think it will take another one or two more terms of right wing leadership after Trump.

Economic progressive policy when it comes to govt is not going to change. Social Security, Medicare is not going anywhere, and one large recession/depression will expand it. That is coming. Make no mistake.
Lol ok, so it’s good that Elon is cutting so many programs now. The larger the deficit we have, the larger the pain it will be when that eventually happens. Social security and Medicare has to remain, but Medicaid and all other social programs will be abandoned to prepare for this.
Also you do realize that if the US falls at any point, so does Canada, which is an end to the social programs up there.
Sanctuary cities as a matter of policy limit police participation with ICE.
Someone who is in jail for possession of an ounce of weed, can be deported to a place where their lives may be in danger.
So it is reasonable to restrict participation with ICE for those reasons.
