It's quite expensive, It does work, but you have to have the time to deal with the diet/eating restrictions over an extended period, in the range of 9 months total and variable pain through the process. After all that, you do have a new tooth or teeth. I've had family members who have gone through it and both have said not again.

Dan, fairly expensive about $2500.00 per implant. Very little pain involved. However it takes about 12 weeks for the implant to graft to your jawbone and in the intrim you get to wear a bridge. Once the implant takes it is no different than having your own tooth.

Experiences, good or bad?
I had an implant about 4 years ago - fractured a molar while skiing at Banff. Actually, fractured the molar below the gum line after wiping out while skiing at Banff would be more accurate....

Digging the broken bits of tooth / roots out of my gums was far more painful than the implant. Yes, the titanium implant was expensive. However, once the whole process was done, it's been rock solid - never had a problem with it.

What's the alternative? A bridge? I think that would be worse....

I had to reread your post twice because the first time I did so too fast and thought you posted BADGE. My bad.

I had two done, I recommended to anybody especially when the dentist said to you he is trying to save your tooth.
I dont think the pain involved is more than going for the regular dental work.
It is costly, about $2500 each, I bet I spent that much on the dentist trying to save the tooth 3 years prior to the implant, so the total I spent on that tooth was $5000.
If I have another chip tooth, that's how it got started, and start getting worse, I'll will take it out with no hesitation and put in an implant.
It works 95% of the real tooth, highly recommended.

Get a bridge instead, it's usually covered 50% by insurances, it's less expensive and less painful...
