Perhaps Fred might consider collecting all the threads and opening a new Forum called Garbage.

I see in the Star today that the union is picketing welfare offices, targeting the "most vulnerable" in society.

I must be getting crotchety in my old age, but I enjoy it when one disadvantaged group fights the other in the race to assert rights that I'm paying for.

Well the some of the ones on Welfare might the scabs who would replace them.

Can't believe the strike is still on. I left Toronto on July 5th after spending 5 nights there. It was starting to stink in more and more places. Can just imagine it now:(

Standard answer: Fire their greedy asses and replace them with private contractors who will do the work for less, do it better, and not hold the public hostage.

Just thought I'd check: I found 53 pages in 13 threads here (a few more in the Politics Forum). They conclusively establish that TEBitizens agree: a) The Mayor/City blew it. b) The union/strikers blew it. c) We're all glad someone else collects the garbage

With ref to a,b,c) above: Usually but not always. Although for some that's: Always but not ususally.

Sorry OJ;

Your conclusion has a major flaw, numbers and I'm still trying to rap my head around the last statement.

It's overwhelming support for the city and against the strikers The last time I looked it over 6:1 albeit down from about 8:1. The initial poll offered only either/or and should of had a third choice, neither; but we learn as we go along, some of us.

Just for S&G, lets interpolate the 2 choices to show a possible 3 choice poll;

76% in favour of the city
14% in favour of the union
10% in favour of neither

The city still outshines the union by 5.5:1 Not perfect, but a legitimate approximation with some assumptions and I know how MB abhors assumptions, at least when made by others.

They've always been picketing welfare offices, actually they've consolidated offices during the strike so not all are open, those inside social workers are part of local 79, nothing new, it's just that the press likes to sensationalize things so they focused on garbage from the get go.

I agree, but Miller will never do that he's too far left and too much in bed with the Unions.

If he does do it I have new respect for him
