Oddly enough, except in one particular area of India, tigers aren't really considered man eaters. They do their best to stay out of our way. Unfortunately we seem to continually encroach on their territories; same with the elephants and lions of southern Africa.

Yeah the primary threat to the tiger is from poachers. Apparently the Chinese use various parts in traditional medicine including aphrodisiacs somebody should tell them about the little blue pill.

If anyone's interested, here's a recent book (I just read) about the hunt for a man eating tiger in Eastern Russia. Great read...and good background on survival and risks of extinction due to the Chinese (who will eat anything if they believe it will give them a hard-on).
