LMAO. To be clear, the Mandarin speaking mainland Chinese are the new Arabs, while the majority of non-Mandarin speaking Han Chinese and their breathen who were born and residing overseas are the Israelis/Jews.

All the greatest inventions such as phones, cars, planes, TVs, computers, rockets and so many other great things were invented in western and european world where free will, free spirit and thinking is practiced. Asians copied them, make them better and sell them cheaper. Most Asian parents raised their kids under strict controls, forced them to do things whether they like it or not and focus mostly for them to do well in life, hence restricting free thinking and innovations.

All true except asians don't make them better. I've heard these asian tiger moms will perform fellatio on their sons to help them concentrate on their studies.

Just because tough love has some educational benefits, this does not mean it gets a free pass in family relations.

I didn't say that. I said not to over-simplify it and pointed out that along with the tough love comes a willingness on the part of asian parents to make huge sacrifices for their kids. In addition to the tough love there is a strong collectivist strain in asian culture where people identify more strongly with family than Western people do. Tough love has to be seen in this context: It is generally unquestioned in an asian family that family members will support one another. It is often questioned in Western families.

So the tough love is delivered in a context where the kids know absolutely that their parents love them, and are willing to do anything for them. Put another way, the parents apply the tough love to themselves first, and then to the kids. The tough love is thus best understood as "you need to do your part too".

It's a bit different than just being hard on your kids, and it works.
