People are ghosting public health and not even showing up for vaccinations
Over 5000 people missed appointments in Montreal over the weekend alone
Toronto had 7000 open apointments and tried begging people to come in

It's fucking ridiculous.
In the US, where there are competing systems, I get how it happens. But outside of travel problems or emergencies, this shouldn't be happening here.
It seems people are doing multiple bookings and then canceling them though, which is just a logistical failure the province needs to fix.

There's a difference between people no showing up for scheduled appointments they made, and people not booking available timeslots.

This article is mainly about the latter. You are confusing it with the former.

The solution is simple. Lower the age requirement and keep the clinics busy.

Yet here in Kingston the pharmacies are out of vaccines and 5 have full waiting lists of 1500 people.
https://www.travelhealthexperts.com/covid-19
The 3 mass vaccination centers here, identified there would be some missed appointments and made a standby list for cancelled or missed appointments and this list is full as well.
From the website:
COVID-19 Vaccine Standby List
To pre-register for a standby list for extra doses of the COVID-19 vaccine that may become available due to missed appointments, please complete this form below.

To be on the standby list, you need to be eligible and able to get to a vaccine clinic.

  • INVISTA Centre – 1350 Gardiner’s Road, Kingston
  • Kingston Community Health Centre – 263 Weller Avenue, Kingston
  • Strathcona Paper Centre – 16 McPherson Drive, Napanee
*Due to high volume of demand, our standby list is full and there are currently no spots available. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please subscribe to this page to receive e-mail notification when the status changes.

Why don't they have a standby list in Toronto?
Last week they announced that 25% of Kingston had been vaccinated so far and over 80% of residents 80 and over had been vaccinated.
Second shots were listed at 6.7%

Not here

Rexall and Shoppers both have littered street corners with multiple signs (at least 10) advertising Yes We Have Vaccine

Noone cares
That is amazing considering their website says no appointments available. Hmmmmm, odd, no no, not shoppers situation is odd, you are odd. LOL

Rexall is out of the vaccine, Teejay. They texted me and told me. I was trying to get on that waiting list.

No way, there are probably 5 Rexalls around Teejay stocked and ready to go. Odd how the Pharmacies are screaming to supply them with all 4 vaccines because they have enough demand but old Teejay sees the world through special Twilight Zone glasses.

They should open it completely up for the Pharmacies to jab away at will. They are very good at it!

Hmm. I wonder why they are having trouble getting a bunch of old people to go online or navigate the system to get appointments and then arrange transportation to them.

And as I mentioned in another thread, it's far more important to vaccinate people who can't work from home before anyone who just happens to be 50. Doesn't help me but I can manage working from home but I can manage.

They should be afraid of blood clots and bell's palsey.

For some, the cure is worse then the disease.
For people over 70 (which is who the articles are discussing), the risk of death from covid is more than 1000 times higher than the risk of death from the vaccine.

One of the legitimate reasons people who booked an appointment no showed or canceled is they don't want the Astrazeneca vaccine and risk of blood clots.

People are getting picky, I know for sure I'd wanna pick which side effect I'm getting with the jab.
Why leave it to chance, especially if you are looking forward to some seizures or a blood clot.
