The Leafs will still attend the pride parade, there are a lot of LGBTQ Leaf fans in Toronto. I bet MLSE board members are mostly conservatives but they understand making connections with several diverse communities is good for business.

There are rumours which I won't repeat that some current and former NHL players are gay.

With all that's happened, not just in the NHL, I find it repugnant that bookmakers are still allowed to advertise in arenas. Former Colts quarterback Art Schlichter had a very promising career ahead of him, but was a degenerate gambler. It got so bad that he started borrowing money from loan sharks. His life was threatened, then it fell apart. He was recently released from prison on cocaine possession charges.

Joseph Woll is no flash in the pan, his mechanics are iron clad. Samsonov has to play well on a back to back game, or else Keith Petruzzelli will replace him. The land of purity and goodness has lousy hockey clubs. The Flames may be able to turn it around, the Oilers wont. They have the worst defense in the NHL, never have I seen a hockey club surrender so many wide open shots. Even when McYahweh returns the situation wont improve - I pity Jack Campbell.

A far cry from the 80's when Alberta teams came to Toronto and crushed the Leafs.

If player wants to use rainbow tape that his business. Let’s him.
If the team wants everyone to wear pride jersey and but not everyone wants to wear pride jersey. Why force it down their throat?
Provorov doesn’t have to give a reason

It's not just the player's business, it's also the team's business. On the ice a player is a paid employee who represents the business that owns the team. Off the ice he can do what he wants, but when he's representing the team he has to follow some rules the team lays down.

Wtf does wearing pride jersey have to playing hockey.
If my employer wants to to wear rainbow at work I’m not doing it. And there’s other employees that feel the same way.
Your employer wants you to wear Nazi tag. You follow company policy?

Just playing the devil's advocate here.

What if a player wants to use tape that has the Nazi logo on it? Is that "his business"?
Yea it’s his Business. If you want to wear a hooded white cap instead of helmet when practicing hockey do it. Let public opinion decide if he worthy to be part of a hockey team

re: Off the ice he can do what he wants

I think that the standard player's contract has some language in it that when a player is "off the ice", he's still representing the team, the league, etc.

I doubt if a current NHL player came to and left the games dressed in a KKK gown or Hiltler era Nazi garb complete with swastikas that it wouldn't go over too well.

This definitely applies to social media posts.

Do you consider promotion of gay rights to be in any way similar toy the Nazi system of racial persecution?

Clearly they are not the same, which was my point. The poster says that whatever the player uses is up to him. I'm saying that that is not an absolute.
