I agree, Japs do what they want. Maybe, North Americans should think twice before they Japanese cars. If you do, this is what your are supporting. You will never see Americans doing this. The Japs want to control the world. They lost in 1945. but are winning in 2007. Think about it!
There are so many things in this post that offend me more than the clip. Wonder how long it stays up?

The Japanese need to hear that their actions concerning whales and dolphins are not acceptable in 2007.

The most sure fire way to get their attention is for Green Peace and others to show the world what the Japanese are doing - the cruel slaughter of intelligent, peaceful, and in some cases - endangered animals.

I have NO DOUBT whatsoever that such an orchestrated campaign would hurt the Japanese economy and so be it in my humble opinion. It's only money that any government understands and a boycott of Japanese automobiles in North America would get the attention of Tokyo. I'd love to see it happen.

I sure won't be buying another Japanese car now. (And yes, I currently own one.) Since I hate GM, it looks like German will be my next choice. I'll make sure I send an email to the Japanes embassy in Ottawa.

Speaking of which, here's a link the Japanese embassy in Ottawa:

The other thing to consider is that as Canadians, we are hardly in a position to preach.

The seal hunt will be starting up soon and we allow the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of seals in an equally gruesom fashion.

Regarding meat consumption, I like the Jew/Christian/Muslim way
AFAIK Muslims draw the line at talons and fangs.

Six (6) pieces of raw whale in Japan costs 3000 yen. Tastes like a fish. Can't wait 'til America starts eating Bambi.
Whales are warm blooded creatures, their meat tastes like tough beef, a bit fatty. In Scandinavia I've eaten both whale and reindeer. Bambi tastes a bit gamey, like caribou or moose.

Between a rock and a hard place
Call it research or cold hard commerce but there is no excuse for dragging a still living and suffering creature on the pavement by a chain or butchering a still living creature with a machete. That was just sadistic.

There is no way in hell a Western world slaughterhouse could get away with such tactics. Part of the laws of Kashruth deal with the humanity of the slaughter. Cows and chickens may be penned but they are still protected from physical torture in abbatoirs regulated by the Humane Slaughter Association.

Where the hell is the Japanese government to regulate this industry? Where is the higher intellect? Even their fish consumption incorporates cruelty. For example to prevent the Japanese fugu from emitting its poisonous venom it is served still living with its midsection cooked and prepared for consumption.

Makes you wonder who the real "animals" are...

Great quote from Ghandi...
The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
How true.

Depends how you define misery, mistreated or raised in a bad fashion. Is it your position that cows raised on a factory farm live happy, contented lives?
my position is that not all cattle farmers are brutal or mistreat the animals they raise...there will be some that do and those are the ones that need to be outted... it is not a perfect world but changes need to be made... we all can do our part to help... never give up on that...but you also have to be realistic ... in your choices... just my two cents...i do not wear leather, i certainly do not buy any kind of fur....i try to do my part..it may be small but every little bit does help...

This is probably one of the most ignorant post I've ever read, in any forum.

Where can you get this stuff in Toronto? I'd rather buy from Mennonites too.
You know what I like about this thread, even though I disagree with what most people are saying? People are so outraged that they actually seem motivated to do something. Write a letter to the Japanese embassy, boycott Japanese car manufacturers, or in your case, buy meat from naturally raised animals.

Best Amish/Mennonite meat market
FRESH FROM THE FARM
350 Donlands, 416-422-3276, www.freshfromthefarm.ca
Since 1996, local foodies Tim and Jacqui Schmucker have been providing their loyal customers with preservative-free meat, dairy and veggies produced by Amish and Mennonite farms around Kitchener and Elmira. But there's a catch: before visiting the store – which is only open Thursday through Saturday – they must place their order at the Schmucker's Web site and pick it up later in the week. Seems a small inconvenience to guarantee a regular supply of drug-free home-grown German sausage.

http://www.vitalitymagazine.com/guide_to_organics_meat
Lists several butchers who sell organic meats. Also check out St. Lawrence Market. There are a couple of butchers who sell organic or naturally raised meat. Karma Co-op carries a selection of frozen naturaly raised meat. Also a shop on Church St in the heart of the village. Can't remember what it is called, but you will see it on the east side just below Wellesley. But be ready to pay a hefty price. Somewhere in the vicinity of double the cost of factory farmed meat. Living by one's principles is not cheap.

LOL *Must interview a cow* You guys are too funny, sometimes. :p
Thanks for reminding us of the humour in some of our posts, Jazzy. But one needn't hone one's interview skills with a cow. Just go to a factory farm and see for yourself. I hear chickens are horribly treated. You might start there.

When they dragged the dolphin up the pavement...that was enough for me.

There is no excuse for this cruelty...or any cruelty like this.

Even if you have no problem with eating meat.

I was thinking of replacing my Buick Rendevous with a Nissan Murano.

Not now.

FUCK THEM.

The dragging was the tame part, my friend. They later stuck knives into their necks and body. The dolphins were writhing in pain, blood everywhere. One dolphin was in such pain that it curled upwards like a big "U" and was in that position trembling, while schoolchildren walked by and watched. :(

Truly disgusting.

You know as much as I think like you, one less car sale, or gadget sale, won't really have any effect on them.
But I like your line of thinking, definitely.
If only it would have some kind of impact.

Imagine if Green Peace could use that video and put in on Prime Time in the US and Canada withe message to boycott Japanese cars.

It would have an affect, I guarantee you.

Problem is the networks wouldn't air it.

fuck the networks ( I take it you mean CBS, NBC, and ABC).

YouTube is the place for this to be.

Or a documentary by HBO. Hell, everybody gets HBO (except us).

Exactly what does the Japanese fishing industry have to do with Japanese car companies? What if countries that revere cows and pigs decide to boycott the US and Canada for similar reasons?
are you being deliberately obtuse?
