Don't they usually ambush people in more public places, like when they are giving speeches or going to or from the office. I don't recall any at homes, but then again I don't recall seeing the warrior princess for a while, that could be the senility talking.


That being said, you don't ambush a fat guy like that, give a bloke a heart attack.

If I remember right, the first time the same thing happened to Mike Harris, he didn't have a fucking a clue that he was being pranked. He was outraged at his handlers (and Harris has a legendary temper) for allowing it to happen. It was only when his handlers explained (repeatedly) to Harris that it was kind of an honour and showed him clips of Chretien and Charest having the same thing happen to them and they were hamming it up that that he understood. In subsequent "attacks" he took it all in stride and had a bit of fun with Mary Walsh.

Anyway, as to Ford, it was clearly not dark out - so I don't know where the fuck Mayor McCheese is coming from with that one. I also don't see his daughter with him, just him turning around and waddling back into the house. Makes me wonder if just about everything he says isn't a lie taylored by a mentally deficient fool. Seriously, it's broad daylight out and where's the crying daughter???

I do agree that 22 minutes should not have come at him at home though. They should have reserved that for when he was a City Hall, though I'd be willing to bet that Ford would not have taken it in stride one little bit. He's too dim to get it anyway.

BTW, McCheese needs to get a new (bigger) shirt that closes up at the neck so that he can at least do up his tie.

A couple of side notes to the 22 Hours "attacks" at Queen's Park.

In the Mike Harris years, the Queen's Park press gallery wrote a letter to the CBC, complaining that the comedy bit used up time that was supposed to be available for real reporters to ask questions. The press gallery felt the CBC shouldn't be using its membership in the gallery in order to provide access for comedy shows.

More recently, the show tried to do a bit mocking Dalton McGuinty for his rule keeping journalists at a distance. However, then NDP member Peter Kormos berated the actress in the middle of the bit, as it occurred when McGuinty was being questioned about significant job losses (I forget where). Kormos said it was inappropriate to try to turn the situation into a joke.

I'm more convinced than ever that Rob Ford does have some sort of social anxiety disorder and inability to control his impulses, emotions and even facial expressions. If you watch the clip, at first he's kinda grinning, then it's a grimace, then it's a blank stare. Odd dude.

Bad judgement to ambush him at home on the way to school with his little girl. A waste of police resources, but one hopes it was instructive for Marg The Warrior Princess and her producers.

I saw the video. I didn't see Mayor Fatso's kid but it was funny watching him waddle back inside his hovel.

Mayor McCheese is a public figure (a large figure at that) and crap like this goes with the territory. You can't stand the heat, go work at daddy's label shop.

Even then the more credible press were pointing out that his numbers really didn't add up. They were pretty much one step away from saying Ford is either pulling stuff from his (ample) arse, or just a straight up lair willing to say anything to get elected. Half of voters shrugged at the notion that empirical reality is really rather important, or worse yet part of some great loonie left fact based conspiracy, and voted for 'faith based gravy with no service cuts'. Yeah, they were mad about strikes that mildly inconvenienced them, and fees that mildly inconvenienced them, and there was all that Tea Party rage drifting North with no place to go... So now we are where we are... But have no fear, Ford's most die hard supporters neither have any sense shame or any degree of memory, so it will all work out in the end... Err.. Or not.

Sorry to bump. It turns out that there was a second 911 call over the 22 Minutes thing where Ford reamed out the 911 dispatchers for not getting the cops there quickly enough. Given how much Ford likes unions the dispatchers contacted their reps fearing repercussions from his worship. Apparently the audio was leaked and is making the rounds amongst the police services (Not mentioned in the article cited). Fun times. LOL, I'm glad I have enough money to move.

I'll make this distinction-- Ambush journalism is not cool. Ambush comedy is a different matter (Ie, this, or Just For Laughs Gags). Especially when it's that far over the top. He should have offered to let her sit shotgun in his minivan and asked her to look around for gravy. Seriously. That would have been hardcore and pissed off 'commies' like me (while rallying his base). Instead we get 2 911 calls. One with uttered threats.
