Mayor Douchebag
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford called police after a crew from CBC's satirical show This Hour Has 22 Minutes showed up unexpectedly outside his house to interview him.
"I came out of my house and I was
ambushed," Ford said.
Actress Mary Walsh, playing the character of journalist Marg Delahunty, was trying to interview Ford for a regular segment on This Hour Has 22 Minutes, in which Delahunty approaches politicians for surprise comedic interviews. Scores of Canadian politicians, including former Ontario premier Mike Harris, Quebec Premier Jean Charest and former prime minister Jean Chrétien, have been subjected to Walsh's surprise approach. Most try to endure the questions in Walsh's mock interviews with good humour.
But Ford was not laughing after Walsh's visit.
It was dark, Ford told reporters Monday evening, and two people who didn't identify themselves came running out of a car parked outside his home in Etobicoke and stopped him from getting into his car.
"There was a lady dressed up and she was screaming my name: 'We got you Rob Ford, we got you,'" Ford said, adding that his six-year-old
daughter was frightened and went back into the home.
Ford said he went back into his house and
called 911.
"I didn't know who they were and
obviously I've had death threats and there was a
camera and a mike," he said. "I'm open to the media, but when you come to my private house early in the morning and ambush me, I think that crosses the line."
CBC spokesman Chris Ball confirmed the show tried to interview Ford outside his home for an upcoming segment of the show.
"These surprise interviews are what 22 Minutes are known for and have been a part of the show for years," Ball said. "The interview began at the end of his driveway and concluded shortly thereafter. The crew had no interaction with the Toronto police."
Ambushed is a strong word and the clip shows Marg (Walsh) coming from the front and who is a Canadian comical icon with her xena warrior reporter outfit and she is almost 60 years old.
In the clip, it's not dark outside and it's 08:00 hours just check the sky above Ford's bungalow. His daughter isn't seen in the clip, so that could be Fordie embellishing the truth, and if it is true and she was sincerely frightened an apology to the child and maybe a guess spot on a CBC show would help her recover.
Who is Fordie trying to fool? He's never met a camera and a mic that he didn't like! BTW, the reporter is a tool as well, it's mic (microphone) not Mike that's a proper name, but Fordie probably spells it that way. I'm surprised that Fordie didn't get into his van with his cell phone in use, back out of his driveway and flip the CBC the finger while trying to open his coffee mug!
Is it obvious that he gets death threats? Suck it up buttercup, some of us get them for 8-12 hours daily and deal with it. You should have realized that comes with the position, and he'll ask Chief Blair for a special security detachment!
Now there is one matter that needs to be addressed and that is Rob Ford using 911 inappropriately and not remaining on-site for police to arrive. By doing this, Fathead Ford took two or more officers away from protecting the public which costs you Toronto taxpayers for his bogus call and had the potential to put the public in harm's way by misleading the police.
Before any of you react to this post, watch the clip. It's a far cry from ambushing, frightening, endangering anyone. He lied about it being dark, there was no child in sight, he made false statements to 911 (police), he placed the public in harm's way by making a phoney 911 call. That's your leader.
You Torontonians have three more years of this tool.
