On the other hand, Singapore does not have oil or other commodity resources and is even short on water. It also gave up manufacturing, like Canada, years ago.

Either copy the solution or avoid the problem in the first place so you don't even need a solution.
Singapore does have some advanced manufacturing, it also has has easy access to cheap slave labor from neighboring countries like Indonesia, China, India, Thailand etc etc. Its financial sector also engages in massive money laundering. On one hand executing the drug runners, on the other hand doing business with all the drug lords Myanmar. (the US kinda does the same with slave labour and drug lords). If Ontario were to build a wall between the GTA and the rest of Ontario and spend all the GTA tax dollars locally without subsidizing the rest of this vast province, then the GTA would be like a big, super rich Singapore. The rest of the province, like a frozen Indonesia.

Question: Why can't Canada duplicate the Singapore model?

Do Canadian students have vision and creativity?
Yes they do. What they don't have is Singapore's willingness to devote massive hours to study. Our country finds it more important that kids are well rounded.

And judging by international test scores, Canada is still doing pretty well.

Is this primarily because of ethnic E.I. and Chinese students as well as a few Jewish ones? When I look at the top high school graduates almost all of them look E.I., Chinese and Jewish.

To people in the free world where we can poke fun
at our leaders in the most abusive manner
without fearing retaliation from the government
living in Singapore could be depressing. No secret police
there but you have to be careful even with something
as innocuous as to caricature the prime minister in political
cartoon.
Does this mean no G20 riot?

Question: Does Singapore allow strikes (garbage, teachers, postal, transit, etc.)?

You do realize how ridiculous your posts make you look right? White Christians make up 75% of Canada.

Of course the massive differences between Canada and Singapore, physically, culturally, and financially make this yet another of your redneck troll threads.

I have a soft spot for Singapore. I'm glad they are enjoying peace and prosperity even though they don't have any Nobel Prize winners, no G20 type riots and no garbage strikes. Although the liberal lefties will disagree, I think we can learn something from the Singapore model.:thumb:

I've spent a lot of time there and I'm not impressed. The weather sucks, the government is heavy handed and intrusive, it's painfully expensive and completely lacking in any cultural experience. It's a national shopping mall. Infrastructure is world class and it's very safe - other than that it's the least interesting spot in Asia.

For several reasons, the people are far more friendly.
