I can think of hundreds of places I'd rather go in the world.
I've been to Newfoundland.
I agree. I'd kill the lot of you to move back there, but unless you got some personal connection to the place, it isn't worth the visit. If you are driving to Nova Scotia, just head to Cape Breton and turn back around.
Just not worth the boat ride and there isn't much to see till you get near Corner Brook.
Yes Gross Morne is nice but it is a bit north of the TCH.
The viking settlement is OK but it is a long ways out and it just isn't worth it. Been there, never go back. It just does not compare to the likes of the Upper Canada village for example.
Tera Nova... you gotta be shitting me, at least not along the highway.
St John's is about a 900km drive and we are not talking 400 series highways here till you get to the Avalon. Again not much to see. Sure you can list a few spots but it just isn't worth going across the province. Although if you do go, I'd recommend Pizza Experts and Peters Pizza but I am a fat guy, also drive up to Outer Cove road.
In short there is stuff to do but it isn't different or spectacular enough to go that far out of the way. Also once you get there it is mile after mile of stunted forest and barrens to get anywhere within the province. You are looking at a lot of driving. If it were where PEI is, it would be worth a drive over from NS. If you are going to NS you will see plenty of fine natural scenery. If you are looking for a destination there is some mighty fine roadage north of Ottawa and Montreal. Mt Tremblent park is nice. I'd assume Ontario has some nice boreal forest also.
If you are driving through NB, I'd recommend taking two different ways coming and going. I seem to recall the St John river valley is nice NB highway 2, Highway 132 in Quebec just north of NB is also nice.
Living there is another matter. St John's at least, nice place, good university. Lots of snow in the winter though and if you want to buy some lettuce or other greens, you should wear a nice dress, because at least you will look pretty when you get fucked. I was there last year and bought some lettuce, was figured the store should have wined me and dined me it was so ass rapingly expensive.
I'd go back in a minute if I had the chance, but I've spent more time there than anywhere else. It is different for me. It's the closest place to home for me.
