Andreescu is losing first set to Mertens, she's being toooo overly aggressive, making many unforced errors, she's gotta calm down a bit.
She doesn't lack stamina that's for sure.
She gets stronger as the match develops.
she's built like a tank. Not quite Serena like tank but she ain't no Carling Basset. McEnroe thinks she could be the one who'll give Serena the best game.
An unusual match, Elise Mertens turned the tables on Bianca in the first set. I knew nothing about this girl, she is an attractive and elegant player. Eventually Bianca solved the riddle dropping only five games the rest of the way. Chris Everet is right, Bianca has never played a seven match tournament, the rest will be new territory.
Matteo Berretini nearly blew against Monfils, he player the power game but allowed the Frenchman to get back into the match. Like Bianca this is new territory for him as well.
The women's semi finals go today: Serena vs Svitolina first with Bianca vs Bencic as the Late Show. Hopefully this time the roof will be closed so that they are not playing in a humid steam bath.

Bencic got a bye in the third round when Kontaveit retired pre-match. She did the entire Open a favour, she had the onset of the flu. Chris Everet said that it would be tough for Bianca to get to the finals, she's never played a seven match Slam. Bencic was fresher going into the semis and she plays the Martina Hingis game better than Mertens. Fortunately for me the wager wasn't as large as the Dimitrov. Bianca is Georges St ************ as a tennis player, I've learned my lesson.

Yes but a bit insensitive, if I told that to my former personal trainer shed slap my face. All those that tended to my rehab were female.
Dimitrov was ranked 78th going into the Open, that put him near the qualification zone. He's now playing like a man with a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. I wonder why?
Berrettini just flat out gifted that first set tiebreaker to Nadal and then he was toast. Now I'm subjected to watching that endless OCD crap from Nadal in the final. I mean how many times does a man have to tug on his crotch for God's sake! Hopefully Medvedev gives him a match - I think he's got the game to do it.

I agree Pinseeker, Berrettini was up 4-0 in the tie breaker when he chocked. After that he became a Roman tradition - porchetta. Medvedev is superior to the Italian, he can control the pace with accuracy just like Nadal. To be fair to the Spaniard, he's not the first one to publicly play with his jewels. Remember Dave Steib, he used to tug on his jock strap every time he threw a ball.

Yeah I remember Stieb. I seem to recall reading that he used to do something like a couple hundred sit-ups a day. That was a popular exercise back then and I guess he was a fitness fanatic.
Nadal's tics and mannerisms before he serves have increased over the years. Without a serve clock on him, there's no telling where he'd be by now. It's tough to watch time after time after time. Same thing with Djokovic - first he's got to bounce the ball 10 to 15 times with his racquet and then with his hand. Just get on with it I say.
As much interest I have in the women's final, that's how little interest I have in the men's. Agree with you about Nadal's tics, mannerisms, fashion styles and the goofy faces he makes while playing. Medvedev just seems like a dickhead. I am pulling for a double forfeit (if there is such a thing).
