Is the D, devotee or derangement? 4 years of debate has finally been resolved.

Let's start with "syndrome".

A syndrome is a set of medical signs and symptoms which are correlated with each other and often associated with a particular disease or disorder. The word derives from the Greek σύνδρομον, meaning "concurrence".

Disease and disorder deal with illnesses and/or abnormalities. AFAIK, there are no diseases or disorders where the majority of the population is so afflicted.

Disorder:

definition of disorder (Entry 2 of 2)
1: lack of orderclothes in disorder
2: breach of the peace or public ordertroubled times marked by social disorders
3: an abnormal physical or mental conditiona liver disordera personality disorder

Abnormal means what it says. Not normal. Not the norm. Not typical. Does not occur in the majority of cases or to the majority of the people.

In the election, 6M more people voted against trump. They did not think that he is suitable to be prez. In some way, they dislike him. They are the majority of the voters. So in the U.S. it is normal to think that trump is unsuitable. Many people would use stronger words. The point is they are the majority. They are not abnormal. As such there is no syndrome that is ascribed to normalcy. Syndromes only apply to what is abnormal.

Now that is just in the U.S. I believe I read that in Canada 80% are anti-trump. Once again, that is a vast majority of Canadians and by definition, that is a normal Canadian. Again, there is no syndrome when one is normal. And if we look globally, trump is equally hated. It is the normal sentiment of the world.

So, to dislike trump (to varying degrees) is normal. It is not an illness. There is no syndrome for thinking normally.

Conversely, to support trump, and to do it so vehemently as to believe everything he says and does, does not seem to be normal, does it, because it is quite a small minority who think this way. Is it normal to believe he won the election? Is it normal to believe he has the greatest memory in history? Is it normal to think he cares about anything other than himself? NO. NO. And NO. The majority of Americans didn't think so and the VAST majority of the 7B people on this earth don't think so.

So, the people who believe, admire, respect trump, i.e. his DEVOTEES are in the minority. They are ABNORMAL. That is what the numbers tell us. It is indisputable. 77M to 71M in the U.S. alone and even more skewed outside of the U.S.

Symptoms that are common to abnormal human behaviour (or a condition) are grouped together and are called a SYNDROME. See above definition of syndrome if you need a refresher. The devotees are the outliers. They are in the minority. They are not normal. They share many common traits. They have a syndrome. It is appropriately called Trump Devotee Syndrome. Only his devotees think this way. The rest of the world doesn't.

There is no such thing as a Trump Derangement Syndrome because it is normal (the numbers do not lie) to dislike him. Being normal is not a syndrome. To dislike trump is very, very normal.

Phil. Unless you change your "custom title" people will think that you do counselling for trump devotees, the abnormal minority.

It must be Devotee Syndrome if they defend him for stuff like this:

Trump tax writeoffs are ensnared in two New York fraud investigations:
Two separate New York state fraud investigations into President Donald Trumpand his businesses, one criminal and one civil, have expanded to include tax writeoffs on millions of dollars in consulting fees, some of which appear to have gone to Ivanka Trump, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

The inquiries — a criminal investigation by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr., and a civil one by state Attorney General Letitia James — are being conducted independently. But both offices issued subpoenas to the Trump Organization in recent weeks for records related to the fees, the people said.

The subpoenas were the latest steps in the two investigations of the Trump Organization, and underscore the legal challenges awaiting the president when he leaves office in January. There is no indication that his daughter is a focus of either inquiry, which the Trump Organization has derided as politically motivated.

The development follows a recent New York Times examination of more than two decades of Donald Trump’s tax records, which found that he had paid little or no federal income taxes in most years, largely because of his chronic business losses.

Among the revelations was that Trump reduced his taxable income by deducting about $26 million in fees to unidentified consultants as a business expense on numerous projects between 2010 and 2018.

Some of those fees appear to have been paid to Ivanka Trump, The Times found. On a 2017 disclosure she filed when joining the White House as a presidential adviser, she reported receiving payments from a consulting company she co-owned, totalling $747,622, that exactly matched consulting fees claimed as tax deductions by the Trump Organization for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver, British Columbia.

The subpoenas were focused on fees paid to the firm on her disclosures, TTT Consulting LLC, and represented just a portion of the $26 million, according to a person with knowledge of the matter. The name of the firm appears to be a reference to Ivanka Trump and other members of her family.

Ivanka Trump was an executive officer of the Trump companies that made the payments, meaning she appears to have been treated as a consultant while also working for the company. While companies can deduct professional fees, the Internal Revenue Service requires that consulting arrangements be market-based and reasonable, as well as “ordinary and necessary” to running a business.

I thought TDS was Trump Delusional Syndrome for his followers that support him.
Having delusions is but one of the symptoms of tDS. It has also been described as being detached from reality. An example, is that they think he's won this election, which is clearly delusional. There is also the loss of independent thinking as they can only think what trump wants them to think. It's a herd mentality. There is also the loss of a sense of humour. These are all things that do not happen in normal people.

Hopefully the fact that the myth of his invincibility has now been proven fallacious may stir some of them back towards regaining their senses. We must remain hopeful for their recovery.

I don't miss trying to debate with people who have no idea how to debate.
