Is it possible that the apparent increase in youth crimes (robberies, assaults, attempted murders, actual murders, etc.) are due wholly or partially to the "no spanking" rule?

Funny you should ask this question. Early in the week I saw this video by a therapist where it explains where everything started to go down hill for society in Western world. Don't be fool by the title of the video, just watch with most open mind and you will be shocked.

Warning some truths of life is discussed if you are sensitive don't watch and be blind.

More likely due to weak cultural leaders and the media instead of parents spanking their kids

Yes, of course social problems occur as a result of less violence. Let's physically assault children at a greater rate at an earlier age because there's a ton of evidence that being subjected to violence, especially from their parents, sets people up to be productive members of society. FFS

Between this, the Jordan Peterson shit, the "oh, all the poor white people" bullshit on here I'm starting to think Ontario sex work clients are nothing more than a bunch of insecure white misogynists.

Is there any actual evidence that supports anything you are saying?

Or are you, “Just asking questions?”

Yup children should not be beaten. Especially if its teachers, then hell no. I am not letting some scumbag take it out on my kid because his wife wouldn't suck his dick that morning.

Anything is possible, but many things aren't probable.

No.

First of all, I challenge you to prove there's an increase and link that back to the 80's when the no spank law was brought in to being. If anything, there has been a decrease in violent crime as a result. Canada is a far less violent society. More education. And violence is less acceptable. When my dad was young, fist fights outside a bar on Saturday night between guys was normal. Not anymore. The norm has changed. Guys don't fight. Guys don't beat the shit out of their wives and girlfriends - pretty standard in the 70's and the cops did FA.

What you're reacting to is a couple of high profile very recent incidents.

How will those crimes be prevented by beating the kid? It is documented fact that in many cases disturbed or delinquent children often have abusive parents or come from a disturbed home of some sort.
I'm not a psychologist although I play one on TV but it does seem there are more crimes and many of the violent variety by kids than when I was a kid. What is causing this? I think the answer is wholly or partially due to a lack of discipline.

My roommate in university was from Singapore and we've kept in touch since. I've been his house guest several times at his home in Singapore.

"Crime rates in Singapore are some of the lowest in the world, with petty crimes such as pickpocketing and street theft rarely occurring, and violent crime being extremely rare."

He's really calling out bad parenting and lack of discipline instilled in their offspring.

Single parent households are incendiary as well....

Singapore is not really known for its human rights.

But I dont think violence today is more than in the past. I think its reported more today because of social media and such while in the past it was just buried or you simply didn't hear about it because your only source of information were the local news channels and they wouldn't pick up everything.

I know but beating a kid hardly instils discipline.
