The ET segment was about many famous people having black, oriental or aboriginal ancestry due to the many varieties of people settling in the west of the US. John Wayne had a Chinese grandfather.
Now I understand the meaning of the Pete Townshend album "All The Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes". The only one I could ever think of was Roy Rogers. Now I can add JW.

"Duke" was also a tough hombre in real life.
From IMDb biography on John Wayne:

The evening before a shoot he was trying to get some sleep in a Las Vegas hotel. The suite directly below his was that of Frank Sinatra (never a good friend of Wayne), who was having a party. The noise kept Wayne awake, and each time he made a complaining phone call it quieted temporarily but each time eventually grew louder. Wayne at last appeared at Sinatra's door and told Frank to stop the noise. A Sinatra bodyguard of Wayne's size approached saying, "Nobody talks to Mr. Sinatra that way." Wayne looked at the man, turned as though to leave, then backhanded the bodyguard, who fell to the floor, where Wayne knocked him out by crashing a chair on top of him. The party noise stopped.
Lmao, great story!

False, http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071029101619AAaoqoH

He was the first cowboy star to include non-whites in his movies as that reflected the true ethnic make-up of the West.
John Wayne existed at a time when there was no internet, I would think that his publicist would make sure that people did not know that John Wayne was 1/4 Chinese. Robert Goulet that was Canadian told people that he was brought up in the Eastern US and did not acknowledge that he was Canadian. At least not till after his money making days, then he admits that he is Canadian after he retired. These were different times, even European actors were not welcome in the US pre 1970s.

Also consider your source, I would think that ET would be a better source than Yahoo Answers. Information available is only about his fathers side. little is know about his mothers side. There were many poor whites that worked as household help for the wealthy along with the blacks and orientals. So a union between white and non white was not so uncommon.

This may not be proof but in Shanghai Noon with Jackie Chan. There is reference in the movie to the rumor John Wayne being Chinese four times. The possibility that John Wayne may have Chinese ancestry is well known in Hollywood.

John Wayne

Yes, The Duke was a genuine tough guy, however anyone who's read the goings on on the set of From Here to Eternity would know that the outcome may have been different if Burt Lancaster had answered the door. The Duke would have been faced with one of two options: a very long brawl or just walk away. To be fair Burt resented getting Frankie out of scrapes and they never did make another film.

two part question:

Which very under-rated film did The Duke make with one of Frankie's co-stars in FHTE and who was that actor. Wayne called him one of the best actors he's ever worked with.

How did Burt Lancaster earn a living before he became an actor.

Frankie look like a runt between two mastodons in this scene.

What is unique to this pistol?

FYI - The pic is embedded in a pic with lines of digital data criss-crossing the image to block Tin Eye.

Answer:

The gun is the Gyrojet, it was designed to fire rocket bullets. The problem was that it was very expensive to shoot and the tiny rockets left little trails behind the bullet.

what band performed this jingle:

Wake up in the morning there's a snap around the place
Wake up in the morning there's a crackle in your face
Wake up in the morning there's a pop that realy says
"Rice Crispies for you and you and you"

Pour on the milk and listen to the snap that says: "It's nice"
Pour on the milk and listen to the crackle of that rice
Get up in the morning to the pop that says: "It's rice"

Hear them talking crisp. Rice Crispies!!
