I had the smaller version of the edge a month+ ago and holy shit did that thing run into hot temps. It was almost like holding a frying pan reaching its peak temp.

I sold it a few days later on kiji and thankfully only took a $20 hit on the price, but the guy saw the box, all original packaging, headset still new, etc, etc.

Samsung may have great screens and all, but their batteries, need a lot of work.
I wouldn't recommend a Samsung, forget it. But if you do, make sure your "bluetooth, wifi, location" aren't running while you're anywhere near a bluetooth device or a Wi-Fi hotspot.
Should help it run more cool.

The Apple dupes will do anything to increase market share.

Kaka, I've been using Samsung smartphones for over a decade and I've never encountered any such problems. In fact the quality of the batteries has improved significantly, they used to be real energy hogs. Sure it does run warmer in my car when it's bluetooth connected, but not like what's described. I currently have a Samsung s5neo and I couldn't be happier with it.

But I don't play games that guzzle data and probably make the battery run hot, it's strictly a communication device for me.

I have a Samsung S4 and have had no problems with it in the 2 years I've had it. I usually let the battery get low till it tells me to charge it then I plug it in.

Other than charging circuit I doubt Apple, Samsung or any other phone manufacturer actually builds their own batteries. They probably spec what they need from a small pool of vendors. I agree the batteries - particularly the quick charge works good in the new phones.

I pre ordered mine a few weeks ago and got a free gear fit for it. I plan on returning the phone to rogers but do i also have to give back the gear since it was samsungs offer and not rogers?

Take it with you in case they ask for it. Otherwise, keep it in your pocket.

I'd say Samsung's battery supplier fucked up. That kind of thing could happen to any cell phone manufacturer.

Now even replacement Notes are catching fire. This is a disaster for Samsung.

Some people are calling them "Death Notes"

It's too bad about the Galaxy Note 7 phones and the exploding batteries. I was close to buying one, but now will consider something else or maybe wait till the Note 8 next year.

Wasn't there a plane that was turned around from an exploding samsung?

Meanwhile, Samsung just halted Note 7 sales and told all users to stop using them.
A new (replacement) Note 7 caught fire on a Southwest Airlines plane before it took off. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-37600014

Even though there's been a couple iPhones that have caught on fire, it's safe to say this is a major clusterfuck for Samsung. The FAA issued this statement. https://www.faa.gov/news/updates/?newsId=86424

I think if you're in the market for a new phone, you might think twice before buying a Samsung. And if I owned one, I'd be pissed about being told to stop using it. Like that's an option for anyone.
