Fun fact: Ellen Foley who was the original Night Court public defender prior to Markie Post, was the female part of Meatloaf's duet Paradise by the Dashboard Light. Also sang back up a few Clash & Blue Oyster Cult songs including one of my favourites, Mirrors.

Stop right there!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?

Crap like this is why I've pretty much given up on network TV, which seems to be nothing but revivals/reboots of old shows and endless procedurals.

I think the only two network shows I'm watching are Abbott Elementary and La Brea, the latter of which is one of my big guilty pleasures.

This also really annoys me because everyone always complains that there's nothing new or original on TV but one show that came out last year, Ordinary Joe, did just that and it got canned after one season. None of the streaming services picked it up either.

It showed the different paths the main character's life could have taken after graduating from college. It was something original and different and or course, no one watched it. I really enjoyed it and I've been a fan of the actor who played the lead, James Wolk, for years.

How is it that the movie industry remains alive? Pretty much every single possible storyline from every single theme about every single topic has already been done in some movie. As long as there is something new, even if it is duplicating something old, there is hope that some of the masses might be interested. It just might not work with the new Night Court, that's all.

The old show has a haze of nostalgia that makes it seem better than it was.
It had a great set up and locale - the night court - that let you just throw any surreal weirdness in there.
It was always mostly ok and sometimes very good, but as long as the main cast had good comedic chops you were always going to be pretty solid because you could just slide to the next premise right away.

Don't know if the new one can match that, other than Larroquette (who is an excellent comic actor), I don't know if the rest of the cast can hack it.
And that's assuming the writers realize the original isn't some gem with hidden depths and nuance, but just a great zany presence with a good heart.

I'm a glutton for punishment - downloaded the first two episodes and will watch it... It can't be any worse than Tulsa King :ROFLMAO:

Tulsa King is bad?
i watched 5 minutes of Night Court and at the 2 minute mark I wanted to slit my wrists. When I watched 5 minutes of Tulsa King i was trying to decide whether I should keep on heading to the light or subject myself to 6 minutes of it.

I’m now a non corporeal life form.

Off topic a bit but this seems to be binge worthy.

'The Last of Us' Fans, Pedro Pascal Shared a Devastating Instagram About the HBO Show

Pedro Pascal just kicked The Last of Us fans while they were down.

HBO Max brought the heralded post-apocalyptic video game to life with a new series adaptation starring the Game of Thrones alum alongside Bella Ramsey. Though only just airing January 15, the first episode follows the original scenes closely, setting up the backstories for Pedro's character Joel Miller, his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna) and his daughter Sarah (Nico Parker) as a zombie pandemic unfolds.

To celebrate the release, The Mandalorian star shared a bittersweet polaroid photo on Instagram. He posed with his face scrunched as his on-screen daughter kissed him on the cheek. The caption read, "Get your homework done? @nicoparker @thelastofus ep 1 streaming now on @hbomax."

Knowing its devastating connotation to the first episode, many Last of Us fans replied to the Instagram post in absolute shambles. “You two broke my heart 😭💔,” one person wrote in the comments section. "Too soon," another added. "It's SO good!" a different user chimed in.

What's more, actress Nico Parker shared her own response to the photo she took with Pedro. "I love you so much ❤," she said.

'The Last of Us'

ICYMI: season 1's premiere included the tragic death of Nico's Sarah. The moment felt even rawer since the HBO Max adaptation closely followed the Dumboactress in the first episode to flesh out a sincere attachment with viewers. That all inevitably crumbled when Pedro's character cradled his daughter as she lied dying, refusing to let go. Brutal, we know.

Now, Joel is left to smuggle Bella's character, Ellie, who the series hints at being the only hope at ending the plague, out of a military-grade quarantine zone. The two then embark on a "brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival," according to the streamer's description.

There's much more to come as The Last of Us returns every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET — it's regularly slotted for new episodes exclusively on HBO Max.

A woke version of an 80's classic. Imho Night Court was funnier and goofier than either Cheers or Cosby. Apparently audiences are not impressed, it has a 6/10 on IMDB ouch!

I gotta disagree with you on that one...I thought Cheers was pretty good and then I'll go with Newhart among 80s sitcoms.

There are times I think that Ordinary Joe might have done better if it had been on a streaming service or a cable network.

I've noticed that a few network shows seem to be trying to copy the prestige dramas on HBO, AMC and other cable networks. And OJ was the kind of high-concept show that might have found an audience on any of those.

Tulsa King is bad?
Bad in the "urban" way, as in that shit was sick yo.

Better than anything I've watched in recent memory, except of course Extrodinary Attorney Woo Young Woo, but that's my penis talking. I sure like an awkward gal.

Who here found the new Fresh Prince of Bel-Air good enough to watch their second season, premiering next month (with Ashley Banks actress Tatyana Ali returning)?

There is a spot on my wall that I rather watch the paint peel.

Not as good as the original Night Court with Harry Anderson, but still watchable, It's a lot better than most of the crap on network TV.

My favourite Night Court moments:

The original Night Court did the opposite of "Jumping the Shark" when Mel Torme was introduced on it. The chemistry between Anderson and Torme was incredible and it was the first time I saw Mel Torme act. The second time was in Sliders, and he was great in that too.....

The greatest original Night Court moment for me was when Bull rearranged the icing letters on a birthday cake and spelled out "Love is my saliva". Laroquette, in his deadpan delivery reading that, was the icing on the cake there....

I don't know about in Toronto, but this Ellen Foley song received a lot of radio airplay in Montreal in 1979:
