Serie A begins!

God bless the English press, they never cease to be entertaining; first it was Fabio Capello as an incompetent idiot, then Serie A is a grandfather league, now it's Ray Wilkins stating that Italian Clubs are poor. Of the three Wilkins has the most cache, in the early 80's he was part of the Milan revival after the disgrace of relegation. Serie A doesn't have to be the best league in the world as long as domestic talent is developed. Today's match between Empoli and Brescia featured only three foreigners. However I agree with whomever wrote that Steve McLaren is superior to Capello; he is the greatest coach in the universe after all.

It will be very difficult for Juventus to qualify for the knockout stage of the CL. If Chiellini's injury lingers and Marchisio cannot support Nedved, their campaign could be over in a hurry. Deco appears to have started the new campaign with a big bang, but can he sustain it? In the long run can he handle the pace of the EPL or will he collapse like Portugal did at the Euro.

yes the EPL sucks compared to Serie A :rolleyes:

please enlighten us as to who won last year's Champions League and which two teams played? EPL is so far ahead of any other league in terms of entertainment value, like watching a pinball machine. Yes Serie is superior if you count 20th minute goals followed by 70 minutes of defence, racist idiots who cant stop throwing things and stabbing each other and by the way do you know why Serie A is scheduled a little later than the rest of Europe, because all the scoresof all the matches have to be decided!!!

I was watching Chelsea/Tottenham at the same time as Bologna/Milan...managed to see all the goals, from what I saw they were trying to get Fatty the ball too much. And I am pretty sure I saw Flamini playing left back for some strange reason? They need Kaka back and they'll be off and running.

And the debate is over, EPL is much easier on the eye. Serie A is so slow, often sleep inducing.

$62 million for a crybaby with no heart? Robinho played like shit against Roma in the CL last season. The EPL better know what they've got, these are the same people that are funding the Taliban and al-Qaedah.

I agree that City, and now that I think about it, United got a crybaby as well in Berbatov, for similar money.

However, the Taliban thing is way over the top. That said, their previous owner was a known Human Rights abuser and embezzeler(sp?)

I was going to mention Mr. Takshin but I proved my point.

Between 1977 to 1982, English clubs won the Champions Cup every year. They did it my utilizing the players of the United Kingdom to best advantage. Liverpool won it 4 times with players like, Keegan, Daglish, Rush and Nicol. Nottingham Forest won it twice with perhaps the best coach England has ever produced, Brian Clough. Why he was never England manager is beyond reason. Even Aston Villa got in on the act; knocking off a heavy favoured Bayern Munich squad led by Karl-Heinz Rummeniege. And let's not talk about the 1984 Champions Cup Final.:mad:

The point I'm making is that the day will come when the you Brits must take back your league.

The latest transfer rumour has Gigi Buffon going to Manchester City for 70 Million euros. One the face of it Buffon would never leave Juventus, he even went to Serie B with them. But if the post Farcipoli regime are stupid enough to allow Seba Giovinco to sign with Arsenal then Luigi will be in Manchester next summer.

take back the league from whom??? the awesome foreigners who have made this league the best in the world? why so little Johnny from Toxteth can play centre forward for Liverpool and be shite meanwhile a Russian, Brazilian, Croatian etc is left out because his name isnt Johnny and he isnt from Toxteth.

Take a look at the English national team with the exception of Gerrard could any of those wankers start on and displace the players on Italy,Brazil,Argentina or Spain? hell no!!!!

Time to move on, nationalism is dead. International tournaments are a nice little diversion every couple years during the offseason. Except for 5 or 6 countries, the rest are crap, and the football is mostly crap. Players don't even care that much except if you have a good international tournament your value goes up and you can get a higher pay package. Just look at how many Brazilians play for other countries. Even the best Canadians find other countries to play for. What I really hate about international games is that Arsenal players always come back injured.

As for Scouser, I think Rooney, Joe Cole and maybe Ferdinand could get a game with some of those countries, but I am with you, the rest of the English players are overpaid and over-hyped.

I think if you asked any English fan whether they would swap 10 months of the best football every year for a crap league and a good tournament every two years, I know what they would pick.

Joe Cole is a wide midfielder, he is definitely better than Camoranesi, I just don't get what anyone sees in that guy. As for Rooney, I would put him on par with David Villa. Just my humble opinion. Ohh...Toni really sucked at Euro 2008...

I heard ALS affects athletes disproportinately.
Meaning athletes get a lot more then non-athletes

Champions League starts on Tuesday...TSN, TSN2, Setanta, & TLN will probably all have games on.
