I also find it interesting that in this "reimagining" of BSG, the mechanical Cylons are never heard to "speak", unlike the original series.
That's a very good observation. The newer toasters haven't spoke yet. However, in "Razor", the First Cylon War Centurian toasters did speak inside their ship when the Pegasus shuttle, to rescue a science crew, was destroyed. The scene was about 8 seconds, all that "By Your Command" stuff was said. The producers made an error by having the gold Cylon Commander speak in the same tone as the silver ones. In the original series, the Cylon Commander had a lower voice.

BSG always has a way to surprise loyal viewers and Cally's death was no exception.

I find it interesting that Tory has a new found super-strength. In the bar scene she was saying to the chief that she didn't used to like a certain drink but now she does, and that she's experiencing a bunch of stuff for the first time. Clearly she's no afraid of being a Cylon and is the first to explore her duality. One wonders then what other traits these "new" 4 Cylons have.

BTW - hats off to Nicki Clyne who played the role of Cally. I thought she did a great acting job in her last(?) episode. Added bonus - it's always good to see Canadian actors doing well.

I think I figured out who the 12th Cylon is going to be. Admiral Cain, the erratic patriot who clashed with everyone. Played by Michelle Forbes, the former Star Trek actress.

She would make an overwhelming enemy to the humans due to her borderline insane and psychotic personality and I think one of the main reasons for the 90 minute Razor episode ahead of season 4 is to prepare and set the stage for this.
The producers spent a lot of time developing her character in Razor and it has to be for some compelling reason. Cain as the 12th Cylon would really put the fear of God into the human colonists in a way that no one else could.

I too would love this to be true, however.........in "Razor", Cain said "My Gods, get that thing off my bridge." Contradiction to the Cylons: A belief in numerous gods.

Michelle Forbes is also expensive. I also know the producers went over the line in the character development in "Razor". Can't say any more that that. ;)

I thought the purpose of Razor was to set the stage for a few important episodes in season 4. i.e. Razor is the backdrop / backstory for future episodes. Though we've only seen 3 episodes so far, we've yet to see any references to Razor storylines.

I believe the teaser clip also showed 2 more battlestars though, so clearly there's an awful lot more to come in season 4!

Ummm, hello! Cara Thrace is the harbinger of the apocalypse!!! <--- There's your reference.

Possible Spoiler Ahead. Highlight to reveal:

Final cylon is going to be either Baltar or Adama. Baltar because he seems to have a direct line with god. Adama because he was labeled as such in the 1st season by Leoben who seems to be pretty up to speed on Starbuck destiny.

Does anyone who if there is a religious separation between the different Cylons?

In last week episode there was a strange dialog between Brother Cavil (1) and Sharron (8). It went something like this:

8 - I can't believe were are killing them. Some of those are my sisters.
1 - It is ok they have the gods to save their souls.
8 - Who is going to save our souls?
1 - Don't be silly. We are just machines after all.

Any thoughts on what that means?

Yeah, it seems the humans have many gods, and the cylons have one "true" god (kind of like muslims/christians). This wouldn't be the first comparison between what is happening on BSG and what's happening here on earth.

I think some of the cylon skinjobs that have infiltrated the human fleet have become more attuned to the "many gods" religion hence the referral to their gods.......

Nope, she's one nice peace of gear.

Now that she's blown Tyrol's whiney wife Callie out of the airlock, look for her to be doing a little cylon cylon jiggy jiggy soon.
Tory is just the way I like 'em.

I think that's a bit of a reach. My understanding is that the Final 5 are unique...no copies made. Since Admiral Cain died, she can't be the 12th Cylon...unless you are implying her death was faked.

Although...if the writers could come up with a plausible "back story"....she would be "hell on wheels".....

Well, if you're a Cylon, you can die, download and be resurrected, as long as there's a resurrection ship in the vicinity.

Moore says the 12th Cylon is not a major character:Quote from article,
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/tvguide/357752_tvgif4.html

Eleven Cylons now have been revealed, so who is the 12th and final Cylon? Contrary to fan speculation, Moore swears it isn’t one of the show’s primary humans. Not Starbuck or President Roslin. Not Admiral Adama (Edward James Olmos) or his son, Lee (Jamie Bamber). Or even the ever-dubious, Cylon-shagging Gaius Baltar (James Callis). “Even if you guess correctly, it’s still just a guess,” Moore says. “There’s no way anyone can figure it out without knowing exactly where we’re going with the final season.”

Since much of that remains to be filmed, the cast is clueless. “We’re going along for the ride, just like the fans,” Trucco says. “We don’t even know where the four new Cylons fall in Cylon chronology. Are we predecessors? Or did we come afterward? Are we divine?”

Adds Douglas: “So far, in scripts, there are no multiple copies of us, unlike with the other Cylons, so maybe we’re one-offs. Does that mean we can die?”

And what about the humans’ quest for Earth? Moore promises that they will arrive there — uh, here — before the series wraps up. But what will they find? Dinosaurs? Ancient Greeks? George W. Bush? “We’ve never revealed our timeframe, and that’s been one of the key questions from the very beginning,” Moore says. “What is the connection between us and the humans of BSG?"

Douglas concludes, “All I know is that everything better track when all is finally revealed, because there’s nothing like a sci-fi fan scorned!”

In the BSG Last Supper pic to promote season 4 Moore says there is an empty chair between Saul Tigh and Lee Adama for the 12 th Cylon. This means the other 12 people at the table are not the 12th Cylon.

Oh boy, they have no idea what's going on. Yeah the "knock it off Hudson" comments in "Razor" came from Aliens, but there was something else they did too....and they not going to get away with it.

Hey...where are all you guys?

I've read on another website that Tom Zarek is being touted as being the 12th Cylon.

Reasoning? - He's not in the "Last Supper" picture, and because he was a star of the original series. Apparently, he has had quite a bit of uncredited creative input in the show, and has been flogging the BSG concept for years to the networks.

There is also talk of a "13th" Cylon....who will be discovered on Earth.

Friday's show was kind of boring plot development/character stuff. I prefer shows that includes the Cylons in their basestars. It was a decent episode just not a lot to talk about.

If they sent out a ship to search for earth, why would they include "Boomer" a known cylon on the crew?

So...another episode that asked more questions then it answered...and in a most "disjointed" way.

I must say, an episode without the ravishing Tricia Helfer is very disappointing. Sorry, but my inner "geeky perv" side is showing.

So...here are my unanswered questions....

So....what is up with Chief Tyrol?

He looks to have gained 50 pounds from this episode to last week's? Plus...did he get head lice? Bald is not a good look for this conflicted Cylon. He should go to same barber that Gaius Balter goes to. He will have to skip rope for hours to burn off his Cylon "boiler".

Why is everyone always sweating aboard the Demetrious? Don't they have a thermostat? It's cold in space...the heating bills must be murder....

Or is abundant perspiration the writers way of showing how earnest and serious everyone is about finding Earth.

Or were they sweating about their impending mutiny against the wacky Starbuck? I was thinking Starbuck was going to ask someone for their pistol, and blow Helo's brains out, ala Admiral Cain in the Razor/Pegaus episodes, when her XO refused to carry out an order.

Was that some Cylon recognition going on between Leoben Conoy and Anders? Do you think they will "bond" over Starbuck? Poor Leoben is always getting stabbed or smacked around.

Tory is really giving Six and D'anna a run for the money for the title of "Most Slutty Cylon" No more crying during sex for her. I think Gaius is now realizing he's the usee, not the user. And that, he does not enjoy.

I think next week's episode will answer a lot of questions, if the coming attraction clips are accurate. They showed Starbuck in a scene with a "hybrid"...and the hybrid was spilling her guts, so to speak. Looks like there will be a lot of action....stuff getting "blowed up good" and all that jazz. Finally, a payoff for episodes 2 & 3.

Newsflash...I've found out that I can see this episode again tonight...it's being replayed at 8:00pm on the Space Channel here in Canada. So..I will switch back and forth between the Habs/Flyers game and BSG and may edit this post later on.

Until later...combat landings are authorized...

You hit the nail on the head that bugs me the MOST about these shows (lost definitely included) is they keep adding more and more conflicts with resolving anything. I mean yeah ok, it was great when cassey (??) found out about the chief and then was blown out of an airlock. I was actually pretty surprised they did that. I mean, they leave millions of other things left unfinished.

As for helo, there is bad writing at it's finest. One scene he's defending starbuck and beating a crewmember because of it and then the next he's going against her. I mean, what's the big problem about going to meet the deathstar? Not like they never did it before ....

I'm glad this is the last season, I'm pretty sick of the crap......

I'm still wondering what the heck happened to hera....they expended SO much energy getting her back and then PFFFT she vanishes.....

I have to agree, the episode that aired Friday and again tonight was pretty weak -- although Tory continues to impress.

I think the producers were counting on the mutiny angle being more exciting than what actually materialized.
